Abstract: This study analyzes the political activities of Protestant clergy and Jehovah's Witnesses (JWs)
during the Civil-Military Dictatorship and the authoritarian transition, based on reports
produced by the National Information Service (SNI), which describe the alleged “subversive
activities” of members of these congregations. In conjunction with this, the influences of these
so-called “subversive” actions, carried out by members acting on their own initiative or when
linked to movements declared to be in resistance to the Brazilian dictatorship, were examined.
The political and social context in which Protestants and Jehovah's Witnesses were immersed
and the political relations established during the repressive attacks, whose intention was to
enforce the ideals and principles shaped by the National Security Ideology, were also observed.
Based on the theoretical references that underpinned and sparked fruitful debates in this study,
we highlight Foucault's idea of a “device of power” that entangled social relations, in addition
to the pertinent understanding of the National Security Ideology, according to which it would
lay the foundations for the execution of the modus operandi adopted by the military in power.
The military in power believed that Protestants could support interventionist actions, creating
an ambiguous relationship in which evangelicals were both allies and under surveillance. It is
also worth noting the interest in conducting documentary research in conjunction with a
historiographical review of the dictatorial experience in Brazil. In this sense, with regard to
methodology, tools provided by Discourse Analysis (DA) were used in order to obtain a deeper
understanding of the thematic study, comparing it with the sources. It is therefore considered
that works of this nature constitute a relevant social contribution, as they point to the need to
bring to light subaltern voices that are silenced in the archives of the dictatorship.

Autor(es): Fontes, Maria Vitória Santos
Abstract: This dissertation aims to understand the processes that shaped the political militancy of Mário
Jorge de Menezes Vieira between 1963 and 1973, a period marked by intense political and
cultural transformations in Brazil. From his involvement in the student movement to his
participation in leftist organizations and artistic production, the study analyzes how Mário Jorge
developed a form of militancy shaped by both collective and personal experiences, the traces
of which are preserved in the memories of family members, friends, and contemporaries.
Grounded in the field of Cultural History, with emphasis on studies of collective memory,
revolutionary romanticism, and artistic engagement, this research draws on oral, literary, and
documentary sources to interpret the political, poetic, and affective dimensions of his trajectory.
The analysis reveals how the memory of Mário Jorge intertwines individual and collective
dimensions, becoming a privileged space of resistance and symbolic elaboration in the face of
the violence of the dictatorial period.

Abstract: This research investigates the nature of conflicts between metropolitan authorities in the colonial space and the political and religious powers, which were specific domains of power in the exercise of colonial power. It begins with an analysis of the petition filed by the parishioners of Nossa Senhora do Socorro da Cotinguiba against the Vicar Pastado Antonio Alves de Miranda Varejão, highlighting how the conflict involved the population and their religious beliefs in the district of Sergipe in the early 19th century. In addition to this petition, sources such as the Qualification Diligence for the position of commissioner of Antonio Alves de Miranda Varejão and Antonio Dias Coelho e Melo; brief petitions by the accused regarding requests, defenses, and accusations to other clergy; the Geographical Description of Sergipe in 1802; the First Constitutions of the Archbishopric of Bahia; and other sources available at the Torre do Tombo National Archives, the Barão do Rio Branco Rescue Project, the Federal Senate, and the National Library (Brazil). The research sought to understand the power relations, based on negotiations and conflicts, between those who exercised power on behalf of
the Portuguese crown in Sergipe and the population, specifically in the aforementioned parish. It also aimed to understand the political demonstrations carried out by the Cotinguiba population. The research hopes to contribute to the understanding of the colonial environment as a space marked by alliances and confrontations, in which the subjects were also agents, based on their ability to speak out and challenge the orders of the authorities.

Abstract: This investigation aims, through the representations of Cinema in the Present Time, to enhance the historical debate regarding women's participation in World War II and the Gender Relations arising from this incorporation. Such an examination consists of the demonstration of the feminine that was dimensioned during this conflict, evidencing how these characters and their actions in favor of the war were permeated by alterities evoked from country to country, from ideologies to ideologies and from woman to woman. Thus, the present research in the construction of a pluralized debate, uses the films The Reader (2008), 3rd Reich Mothers (2012), Battle for Sevastopol (2015) and A call to Spy (2019) to trace an observation of this conflagration from the perspective of gender politics, where debates about symbolic powers, male dominations, gender hierarchies, symbolic and coercive violence, and among other multifaceted aspects. With regard to the theoretical and methodological body, the analysis appropriates biases such as those of Comparative History undertaken by Jürgen Kocka, as well as precepts of the relationship between History and Cinema, highlighting the organicity of the Communication Circuit created by Alexandre Busko Valim, in which, in addition to the historical analyses undertaken to the films, The observation will be based on the production, emission, mediation and reception of these productions, in conjunction with the notion of Literary System by Antônio Cândido, also articulating elements such as author (production), work (product), and audience (reception). In addition, the frameworks of the fields of Women's History and Gender Relations anchored in Feminist Theories are also incorporated, thus seeking, in the union and problematization of the usualities of these biases, to observe and understand the Second World War through new lenses.
