Abstract: Introduction: Pharmacovigilance is a strategic area of public health, responsible for identifying, analyzing, and reducing risks associated with the use of medicines. With the advancement of digital systems and the increasing volume of health data, the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising alternative to optimize processes, expand analytical capacity, and strengthen medication safety. In this context, there is a growing need to deepen the understanding of how these technologies are integrated into pharmacovigilance practices. Objective: To map the available scientific evidence on the applications of artificial intelligence in pharmacovigilance activities, identifying the techniques used, purposes, benefits, barriers, and gaps in the literature. Methodology: This is a scoping review conducted in accordance with the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The search was carried out in the PubMed, BVS, SciELO, Web of Science, and Scopus databases, using descriptors related to pharmacovigilance and artificial intelligence, combined with Boolean operators. Studies were selected according to predefined eligibility criteria, with screening performed by independent reviewers. Data were extracted and organized into standardized spreadsheets for descriptive analysis. Results: A total of 3,649 studies were identified, of which 28 were included in the final sample after the screening and eligibility stages. Most publications were concentrated between 2021 and 2025, with a predominance of studies conducted in countries with high technological development. The main AI applications included the detection and prediction of adverse drug reactions, the automated extraction of information from clinical texts, and the automation of processes related to case triage and coding. Among the techniques employed, machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing were highlighted. The studies reported benefits associated with increased efficiency and improved capacity for detecting safety signals, including reductions of up to 26% in the need for manual signal validation and models achieving AUC values above 0.90 in the automated detection of adverse drug reactions, although limitations related to data quality, model interpretability, and ethical and regulatory challenges were also identified. Conclusion: The results demonstrate that artificial intelligence is being progressively incorporated into pharmacovigilance practices, providing clear benefits in the processing of large volumes of data and in the early identification of risks associated with medication use. Despite the identified potential, the adoption of these technologies is still occurring gradually, requiring greater validation in real-world settings and the strengthening of regulatory frameworks. In this context, artificial intelligence is expected to assume an increasingly strategic role in ensuring medication safety.</summary>

Abstract: Introduction: Humanity has been using the pharmacological properties of plants since its inception. Studies have identified around 500 species of medicinal plants distributed across 112 families, one of the most extensive of which is the Lamiaceae family. Among the species in this family, one of the most important in its phytosociological context is Hypenia salzmannii, popularly known as canela-de-urubu, which is used in folk medicine to treat flu symptoms and respiratory diseases, native mainly to the Caatinga and Cerrado biomes. However, there is a scarcity of academic publications on it. Objective: Organize and analyze scientific knowledge about the species Hypenia salzmannii published between 2006 and 2025. Methodology: The PubMED, Science Direct, and SciELO platforms were used, and the academic works were evaluated according to the criteria established for the purpose of this integrative review. Results and discussion: After surveying and selecting the works for this review, 12 publications were selected and categorized into different types of academic studies, specifying the author, title, year of publication, and study objective. Based on the analysis of the publications, information was gathered on the pharmacological properties of cinnamon, with emphasis on its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Other activities observed were its antitumor and trypanocidal activities. In addition, Hypenol, a new lignan observed in the ethanolic extract of Hypenia salzmannii, was discovered. Conclusion: Canela-de-urubu is important in folk medicine, but there has been a scarcity of scientific research on it for almost two decades. It is used to treat respiratory diseases due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, but it may also be used to treat other conditions given its trypanocidal, antitumor, cytotoxic, antibacterial, and antiviral activities. Therefore, in order to take advantage of the benefits that Hypenia salzmannii can offer for the development of new treatments, more research on the species and its secondary metabolites is needed.</summary>

Abstract: This final course paper, based on a narrative literature review, aimed to analyze the efficacy and safety of herbal remedies as a therapeutic alternative for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Based on the premise that conventional pharmacological treatments, such as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) and Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs), often present limitations such as adverse effects, low adherence rates, and resistance, the research focused on identifying and describing the potential of medicinal plants. A detailed analysis of the literature demonstrated that several plants, including Valeriana officinalis, Ashwagandha, Saffron, Passiflora incarnata, Kava, and Chamomile, have promising mechanisms of action, primarily by modulating the GABAergic and serotonergic neurotransmitter systems. The results indicate that phytotherapy can not only complement but also serve as a viable alternative to traditional pharmacotherapy, with a lower incidence of side effects. However, the study also highlights existing gaps in research, such as the lack of extract standardization, variability in the chemical composition of the plants, and the need for clinical trials with larger samples. The conclusion reinforces that, despite the methodological challenges, the use of herbal remedies represents a promising approach to GAD treatment, contributing to a more integrative and humanized form of medicine.</summary>

Abstract: Cancer comprises a group of diseases characterized by molecular alterations that confer cells with abilities such as uncontrolled proliferation, evasion of cell death mechanisms, and invasive potential, representing a major global health concern. Among classical chemotherapeutic agents used in oncology, cisplatin stands out due to its high therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of several solid tumors. However, its clinical use is associated with a significant toxicity profile, which limits its application and directly impacts patients’ quality of life. This study aimed to conduct a narrative literature review on cisplatin, addressing its mechanism of action, main adverse effects, clinical management strategies, and therapeutic limitations, as well as discussing how these aspects support the development of new cancer treatment approaches. The methodology consisted of a bibliographic search in recognized scientific databases, prioritizing recent studies while including classical references essential for understanding the topic. The findings indicate that cisplatin-induced adverse effects, such as severe emesis, nephrotoxicity, and ototoxicity, are directly related to its mechanism of action based on DNA damage and oxidative stress induction, reflecting the low selectivity of traditional cytotoxic chemotherapy. Furthermore, factors such as pharmacogenomic variability and the development of tumor resistance contribute to treatment failure and reduced efficacy. In conclusion, although cisplatin remains a cornerstone in oncology, its toxicity profile and therapeutic limitations justify the need for rigorous clinical management and support the development of more selective and personalized anticancer therapies.</summary>
