Abstract: This Undergraduate Thesis analyzed the persistence of “first-ladyism” (primeiro-damismo) in contemporary society, as well as its relationship with the feminization of Social Work and the Social Assistance Policy. The general objective of the study was to reflect on the current manifestations of “first-ladyism” as an expression of contemporary conservatism and its relationship with social assistance. To achieve this objective, the following specific objectives were established: to analyze the protoforms of Social Work, identifying practices that remain within the profession in contemporary society; to examine the process of the feminization of Social Work from a gender perspective and its relationship with the persistence of “first-ladyism”; and to identify the presence of “first-ladyism” in management positions within the Social Assistance Policy at both the state and municipal levels, with special emphasis on the state of Sergipe. This study adopted a qualitative and quantitative approach and was characterized as exploratory and documentary research, based on a literature review, data collection, and analysis of information regarding the State and Municipal Departments of Social Assistance. The qualitative approach enabled an understanding of the phenomenon through specialized literature, while the quantitative approach allowed for the organization and analysis of the collected data, presented through graphs. The findings reveal a significant presence of first ladies occupying management positions within the Social Assistance Policy in the municipalities of Sergipe, demonstrating the persistence of conceptions that associate care with women and contribute to the reproduction of conservative practices in public administration. It is concluded that “first-ladyism” remains an expression of contemporary conservatism in the management of the Social Assistance Policy, highlighting the need to strengthen the professionalization of public management and the effective implementation of the principles guiding the Brazilian Unified Social Assistance System.</summary>

Abstract: This study aims to understand hunger as an expression of the social question, based on manifestations of food and nutritional (in)security in Brazil during the Covid19 pandemic, between 2020 and 2022. Of a qualitative nature, the research is grounded in the historical-dialectical materialism method and is carried out through bibliographic and documentary research. It is evident that hunger constitutes a historical problem, intensified by the capitalist and neoliberal model, especially in the context of agroexportation. It was found that social programs, such as Bolsa Família and Emergency Aid, proved insufficient to reduce food and nutritional insecurity during the health crisis. This study also highlights that overcoming hunger requires the effective role of the State, the consolidation of Food and Nutritional Security instruments, and the implementation of structural policies that guarantee the human right to adequate food.</summary>

Abstract: This study analyzes the reality of women in the Brazilian labor market during the Covid-19 pandemic. To this end, it presents an analysis of the Brazilian labor market articulating the dimensions of class, race, and gender; identifies the aspects that mark women's participation in the labor market in the face of multiple work shifts; and investigates the effects of the pandemic on women's working conditions in Brazil. Methodologically, the research employs a qualitative and quantitative approach, of a bibliographic and documentary nature, based on official data and academic productions on the subject. The need for this research stems from the deepening of existing structural inequalities in the labor market, intensified by the pandemic context, especially in a scenario marked by the precariousness of labor relations and the erosion of workers' rights. The results indicate that the pandemic deepened existing gender and racial inequalities in the Brazilian labor market.</summary>

Abstract: The study focuses on the disasters of Mariana and Brumadinho, in the state of Minas Gerais, caused by the collapse of iron ore tailings dams, and on the case of the neighborhoods in Maceió, Alagoas, affected by rock salt extraction carried out by the petrochemical company Braskem. The main objective is to analyze these socio-environmental crimes and understand how the partial invisibilization of their consequences contributes to the naturalization of rights violations, as well as to identify institutional and grassroots mechanisms of reparation and resistance. Methodologically, this is a qualitative and exploratory study grounded in the historical-dialectical materialist method, adopting the critical analysis of social, economic, and political realities from the perspective of socio-historical totality as its central analytical framework. The research is based on a bibliographic review and documentary analysis of journalistic media, information available on the websites of social movements related to the topic—particularly the Movement of People Affected by Dams (MAB)—and independent audiovisual productions. The findings reveal the class character of the Brazilian State, demonstrating that the insufficiency of inspection and reparation mechanisms stems from the structural contradictions of the State under neoliberal hegemony, favoring the interests of capital over the effective protection of socio-environmental rights. Furthermore, the study found that the structural weakening of the National Mining Agency (ANM), the erosion of social participation, and corporate unaccountability contribute to the persistence of rights violations affecting impacted populations.</summary>
