Abstract: The infection caused by SARS-Cov-2 (coronavirus) is called Coronavirus 2019 Disease (COVID-19) and is characterized by a new type of infectious disease of the respiratory tract, which has been recognized as a pandemic by the World Health Organization ( WHO) on March 11, 2020. When the disease was introduced in Brazil, most cases were imported, and the strategy to contain the epidemic was based on the search and isolation of cases and contacts to avoid the continued spread of the virus. peer to peer. However, many workers, especially in essential services, fail to adopt adequate social distance during a pandemic. In this sense, this project aimed to carry out a seroepidemiological survey of SARS-Cov-2 infection in public security agents in Aracaju-SE. For this, an observational cross-sectional study was carried out in June 2020 and January 2021, with police officers and military firefighters, respectively. Participants were submitted to a questionnaire on socio-epidemiological aspects and collection of biological material to detect the presence of SARS-Cov-2 by RT-PCR and IgM and IgG antibodies through immunofluorescence assays. The two groups of workers were composed mainly of men, aged 45 years or less and residents of Aracaju. It was possible to notice that approximately 50% of the participants of both groups had positive RT-PCR for SARS-Cov-2, 62 (44.6%) being police officers, with a seroprevalence of 3 (2.2%) for IgM and 14 ( 10.1%) for IgG and firefighters 56 (45.5%), with seropositivity for IgM of 17 (13.8%) and IgG of 32 (26.0%). In most positive cases, workers were asymptomatic. There was a significant association between seropositivity for IgM and IgG in police officers (p = 0.0268*, OR = 20.67; 95%CI = 0.03 to 0.89) and in firefighters (p = 0.0416, with OR = 3.04 and 95% CI = 1.1 - 8.7), in addition to the association between IgG and previous covid-19 test reported by firefighters (p = 0.0064, OR = 4.9 and 95% CI = 1.6 to 15.2), as well as for police officers (p = 0.0010, OR = 6.47 and 95% CI = (0.15 to 0.63). Thus, it can be seen that these professionals are routinely exposed to the risk of contamination with the new coronavirus, presenting a considerable rate of infection and increased production of antibodies between the periods evaluated. It is noteworthy that the characteristics of the work can further increase the risk of infection, so the immunization of this category is essential for the safe provision of services for workers and for society.</summary>

Abstract: Introduction: Post intensive care syndrome (PICS) can be diagnosed in critically ill survivors who have been exposed to hospitalization, immobility and multiple invasive interventions. These patients are affected in the physical, cognitive and psychological domains, which are not necessarily related to the underlying disease. Objective: To verify, through a systematic review, if there is a similarity between &#xD;
the manifestation of PICS in patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, who evolved to the most severe condition of COVID-19, and those who had other baseline diagnoses. Methods: This is a systematic review using the Prisma model (awaiting submission number at PROSPERO), a search was carried out in the following databases: Pubmed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, between March and June 2022 and updated on 01/31/2023. The studies were evaluated for quality methodological according to the Quality Assessment Tool for Observational Cohort and Cross-Sectional Studies. In this review, basic information was collected from each study, such as the author's name, year and country of study, population, study design, period of data collection in addition to the results, conclusion and various information about the physical, psychological and cognitive domains evaluated and tools used. Results: Some risk factors for the development of PICS, such as advanced age, time after discharge, absence of a spouse, frailty and incidence of post-ICU cognitive impairment, in addition to some factors that have a protective function for the emergence of such a syndrome, such as years of schooling and early active mobilization. The most evident PICS domain was the physical one, affecting most of the evaluated population. It was also possible to identify that there were &#xD;
similarities in the PICS manifestation either in the post-COVID-19 profile or with other underlying diseases. Conclusion: PICS manifestations in patients with COVID-19 or other critical underlying diseases happen in a similar way.</summary>

Abstract: Introduction: Anchorage control is crucial in orthodontics, so the use of auxiliary devices is necessary for treatment. Orthodontic tooth movement occurs through forces that cause action and reaction. Various devices are available to reinforce anchorage, but they do not eliminate the reaction caused by movement. Temporary anchorage devices, supported by a fixed point, eliminate the reaction effect caused by orthodontic movement. An excellent option is the orthodontic miniscrew, as it is easy to install and can be placed in various locations. Due to its low osseointegration, stability occurs through mechanical retention, so the main concern is the possibility of fracture. Objective: To evaluate the maximum insertion and removal torque of orthodontic miniscrews subjected to physical sterilization. Methodology: This study used 40 miniscrews, distributed into four groups (n=10), divided by the number of reuses and sterilizations. The miniscrews were inserted into a test specimen, then removed, sterilized, and reinserted to assess their resistance to insertion and removal torque. Torque was measured using a digital torque meter. Results: A statistically significant decrease in maximum insertion torque was observed, while maximum removal torque varied between the torque averages at the various times they were removed. However, a statistically significant decrease was observed between removals. The groups showed no statistical difference when evaluated at the same insertion and removal times, revealing homogeneity of the data.</summary>

    <summary type="text">Título: Caracterização fenotípica e molecular de bactérias multirresistentes isoladas em um hospital universitário

Abstract: Healthcare-associated infections are a global concern, as they often involve multidrug resistant and virulent microorganisms, increasing mortality, hospital costs, and patient insecurity. These bacteria, both Gram-negative and Gram-positive, spread easily and can become superbugs by acquiring virulence factors and developing resistance mechanisms such as extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) production, carbapenemases, and vancomycin resistance. Thus, the present study investigated the antimicrobial resistance profile and virulence factors in multidrug-resistant bacteria isolated by the University Hospital of Lagarto (HUL), through phenotypic and genetic characterization. The project was approved by the Teaching and Research Management of HUL and by the Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Sergipe. The research was conducted between September 2023 and January 2025. Fifty strains were analyzed, and tests were performed for the detection of antimicrobial resistance, phenotypic detection of ESBL through the double-disk synergy test, and phenotypic detection of carbapenemases through the modified carbapenem inactivation method. Molecular tests were carried out to verify the presence of genes encoding ESBLs and carbapenemases. Tests were also conducted to detect virulence factors (polysaccharide capsule, type 1 fimbriae, hypermucoviscosity, and biofilm). Paeruginosa species were subjected to genetic testing for virulence genes (aprA, plcN, plcH, algD, and lasB). The most frequently found microorganism was Klebsiella pneumoniae (52 %), followed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (14 %), Escherichia coli (10 %), Enterococcus faecalis (6 %), and other bacteria (18 %). The main source of isolates was urine (52 %). Regarding antimicrobial resistance, K. pneumoniae showed 92% resistance to fourth-generation cephalosporins and 73 % to carbapenems. Paeruginosa showed 100 % resistance to carbapenems, and E. coli showed 100% resistance to fluoroquinolones. Enterococcus faecalis and faecium showed 100% resistance to both vancomycin and teicoplanin. The most prevalent ESBL gene was TEM, with 51.1 %. 22.2 % of Gram-negative samples simultaneously harbored TEM + SHV + CTX-M-1 genes. The blaKPC gene was the most prevalent carbapenemase, detected in 40% of isolates, especially in P. aeruginosa (85.7 %). 35.1 % of Gram negative samples presented both carbapenemase and ESBL genes simultaneously. The vanA gene was found in 60 % of Enterococcus isolates. Among the virulence factors, 78 % had a polysaccharide capsule, 66 % had type 1 fimbriae, 94 % were biofilm producers, and all P. aeruginosa strains presented the tested virulence genes. The results confirmed the national trend of increasing detection of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, especially K. pneumoniae and P. aeruginosa. The significant detection of biofilm and other virulence factors indicates a high infectious potential of the strains. The findings will serve as a basis for future studies and may contribute to improving the institution's protocols in combating healthcare-associated infections.</summary>
