Objetivo: Avaliar a força muscular periférica de pacientes submetidos à cirurgia cardíaca eletiva. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo observacional e longitudinal. A força muscular periférica foi mensurada por meio de dinamometria isométrica de MMII (extensores e flexores de joelho) em três momentos distintos: pré-operatório (M1), dia da alta da unidade de terapia intensiva (M2) e dia da alta hospitalar (M3). Os participantes receberam atendimento fisioterapêutico pré e pós-operatório durante os dias do internamento, nos períodos matutino e vespertino. Resultados: Foram avaliados 22 pacientes. Os valores de força muscular periférica de extensores de joelho pré-operatórios encontrados foram cerca de 50% menores do que os preditos para a população saudável. Ao comparar a força muscular prévia (M1), com os demais momentos de avaliação, encontrou-se em M2 queda de 29% para o movimento de extensão do joelho e 25% para o movimento de flexão de joelho e queda de 10% para o movimento de extensão do joelho e 13% para o movimento de flexão de joelho em M3 ao comparar com M1. Conclusão: Os valores de força muscular periférica prévia dos pacientes do estudo foram menores do que o predito para a população saudável com a mesma faixa etária. Após o evento cirúrgico, essa redução é ainda mais notável, sendo reestabelecida até o momento da alta hospitalar a valores próximos ao basal.

Título: Fatores materno-infantis associados à diástase dos músculos retos do abdome no puerpério imediato Autor(es): Rett, Mariana Tirolli; Almeida, Taíse Vasconcelos de; Mendonça, Andreza Carvalho Rabelo; DeSantana, Josimari Melo; Ferreira, Ana Paula de Lima; Araújo, Karina Conceição Gomes Machado de Abstract: Objectives: to compare the distance between the rectus abdominis muscles (RAM) and the prevalence of separation of the rectus abdominis muscle (SRAM) in the supra- and infra-umbilical regions of primiparous and multiparous women during immediate post-partum and to identify associated factors relating to mother and child. Methods: a cross-sectional study was carried out with 115 primiparous and 154 multiparous women. The SRAM was measured 4.5 cm above and below the umbilical scar and was correlated with maternal age, body mass index (BMI), gestational age, weight, height, and the circumference of the head and thorax of the newborn. Student’s t test, Pearson’s correlation, the chi-squared test and multiple logistic regression, p<0.05, were used to analyze the data. Results: the distance between the supra-umbilical RAMs was 3.04 (±1.68) and 3.35 (±1.19) cm in the primiparous and multiparous women. The prevalence of supra-umbilical SRAM was 74.8% and 76.6% and that of infra-umbilical SRAM 40.0% and 54.5%. In both groups a positive correlation was found between the distance between the supra-umbilical RAM, the age of the mother, BMI and infra-umbilical RAM. The BMI and weight of the newborn were the factors associated with supra-umbilical SRAM in primiparous women and maternal age was the associated factor among multiparous women. Conclusions: irrespective of parity, the distance between the RAM and the prevalence of SRAM were greater in the supra-umbilical region and correlated with the age of the mother, BMI and infra-umbilical SRAM. Among primiparous women the associated factors were BMI and weight of the newborn and among multiparous women, the age of the mother alone.

Título: Incontinência urinária na gestação: implicações na qualidade de vida Autor(es): Moccellin, Ana Silvia; Rett, Mariana Tirolli; Driusso, Patricia Abstract: Objectives: to compare the quality of life of pregnant women with and without urinary incontinence, identifying the principal factors that have a negative influence on quality of life during this phase of a woman’s life. Methods: the study recruited 15 pregnant women who had complained of urinary incontinence and 25 who had not experienced such symptoms and assessed them during two periods, between the 24th and 28th week of pregnancy and between the 34th and 36th. The study used two quality of life questionnaires (the King Health Questionnaire and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire). The data were tabulated using Excel and statistical analysis was carried out using the Statistica software package. The level of significance was set at 5%. Results: the pregnant women without symptoms of urinary incontinence had a better quality of life than those with such symptoms in the physical, social and environmental sections. The pregnant women with symptoms of urinary incontinence had lower scores for general perception of health and the impact of incontinence between the first and second evaluation. Conclusions: urinary incontinence reduces the quality of life of pregnant women. Other factors, such as lack of social and emotional support, may also have a negative impact on quality of life during pregnancy.
