Abstract: Introduction: Obesity represents a global public health problem, with increasing
prevalence in Brazil. The alteration in the composition and function of the microbiota is
called dysbiosis, a condition associated with metabolic diseases such as obesity and type
2 diabetes.Lactobacillus casei has demonstrated beneficial effects on glycemic control in
experimental studies; however, there is a need for clinical evidence in overweight and
obese populations. Objective: To evaluate the effect of supplementation containing
Lactobacillus casei strains on the glycemic profile of overweight and obese patients
assisted at the Nutrition Outpatient Clinic of the University Hospital of
Aracaju/SE.Methods: Prospective intervention study with adult and elderly participants
(mean age 57.5 ± 15.03 years; 66.7% women) with BMI ≥ 25 kg/m² and glycated
hemoglobin ≥ 5.7%. Participants received supplementation with 2 daily capsules of
Lactobacillus casei (5×10⁹ CFU each) for 12 weeks. Sociodemographic, anthropometric
(weight, height, BMI, circumferences), and biochemical data (glycated hemoglobin,
fasting glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR, and HOMA-BETA) were collected before and after
intervention. Statistical analysis used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to verify normality
in data distribution, paired t-test for parametric variables, and Wilcoxon test for nonparametric variables in comparing data between pre- and post-intervention moments, with
a significance level of 5%. Results: The sample presented a mean weight of 88.1 ± 16.01
kg and mean BMI of 32.53 ± 4.61 kg/m². No significant differences were observed in
anthropometric parameters after intervention. In the glycemic profile, only insulin
showed a statistically significant reduction (p = 0.028), with mean levels decreasing from
22.69 ± 24.14 μU/mL to 20.75 ± 26.72 μU/mL. Fasting glucose (p = 0.666) and glycated
hemoglobin (p = 0.798) remained stable.Conclusion: Lactobacillus casei
supplementation promoted a significant reduction in insulin levels without changes in
other anthropometric and glycemic parameters.

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive capacity of Phase Angle and Bioimpedance
Vector Analysis in the evaluation of adult and elderly patients hospitalized with
sarcopenia. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative study, carried out at
the Lagarto University Hospital (HUL), in Sergipe. A total of 70 participants composed
of adults and elderly individuals were included in the study sample. Anthropometric
assessment, muscle strength assessment and electrical bioimpedance were performed,
and information for Bioimpedance Vector Analysis and calculation of Appendicular
Muscle Mass and Phase Angle were obtained through electrical bioimpedance. To
assess muscle strength, a dynamometer was used. Sarcopenia was defined as low
muscle strength and low muscle mass according to the guidelines of the European
Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People 2. The statistical program R Core Team
was used for data analysis, adopting a 95% confidence interval. In this study, it was
observed that 34.3% of the participants were classified as sarcopenic. The vector
displacement analysis demonstrated a lower cell mass in sarcopenic men and women.
The Phase Angle, in turn, also correlated with the Height-Adjusted Appendicular
Muscle Mass in both sexes. The present study showed the good predictive capacity of
the Phase Angle as an indicator of muscle strength and quality of muscle mass in
hospitalized patients.

Autor(es): Costa, Vanessa Meneses
Abstract: Introduction: Obesity in childhood and adolescence has increased significantly over the
years, as a result of several individual and environmental factors. The sale of ultra-processed
foods and drinks in school canteens has been an aggravating factor. Technical materials with
updated national guidelines can favor the implementation of healthy school canteens,
encouraging better food choices among children and adolescents in the school environment.
Objectives: To validate the content of the second edition of the “Healthy School Canteens
Manual: promoting healthy eating”. Methods: Methodological study, developed in five
stages: 1) bibliographical survey in the main scientific databases and national institutional
repositories; 2) updating the content of the material; 3) review of the content by researchers
involved with the theme of each chapter; 4) review of the material by the General
Coordination of Food and Nutrition (CGAN/MS); 5) content validation by a panel of experts
on the subject and Communication and Language professionals from the five regions of the
country. Validation data was collected through an online questionnaire, with response options
based on a Likert scale. In data analysis, descriptive statistics were used for the specialists'
sociodemographic data and Content Validity Coefficient (CVC) for each item (CVCi), for
each domain (CVCd) and for the complete material (CVCf), with a cutoff point equal to 0.80.
Items related to the Objectives, Relevance and Language domains were evaluated. Results:
The content of the second edition of the Manual was validated by 11 expert judges on the
themes of school food environment and promotion of adequate and healthy eating and by five
Communication or Language professionals. For the objective, relevance and language
domains, CVCs of 0.93, 1.0 and 0.87 were obtained, respectively. The final CVC was 0.93.
Final considerations: The updated and validated document is suitable for the school
community and could contribute to the implementation of healthy school canteens, being a
powerful tool for transforming these spaces into places to promote adequate and healthy
eating in the school environment.
