Psiquiatria e ficção: ensaios críticos

Título: Psiquiatria e ficção: ensaios críticos
Autor(es): Rocha, Lucas Ribeiro
Abstract: This dissertation articulates two objects, psychiatry and fiction, aiming to produce regions of
indeterminacy and estrangement regarding the contemporary. It is through this geography of
time — paying attention to the gray areas of history, with our backs turned to the future, and
against the rules of monumental contracts — that we embark on essayistic adventures. There
are two main paths of thought here. In the first section, we problematize the radically
psychiatrized society currently found in Brazil; and we investigate the emergence of psychiatry
in 19th-century France amidst the Enlightenment contradictions of the time — namely, the
political and administrative difficulties in legitimizing the confinement and tutelage of the
insane — in order to propose alternative strategies for a radical critique of the psychiatric
medicalization (fictionalization) operation. Instead of unmasking the fiction of psychiatry in a
denunciatory and moral tone, we aim to understand its means of producing meaning, so as to
map, interrupt, and dismantle its political-fictional monument in the present. After all, Robert
Castel reminds us that psychiatry is nothing more than a political science. In the second section,
we use fiction to scientifically root around the provenances of our current catastrophe: the
overwhelming setbacks of the Brazilian psychiatric reform and the brutal psychiatrization of
our social fabric. Thus, we establish relations of proximity between two houses. On one side,
the Casa Verde (Green House), a fictional formulation by Machado de Assis representing the
asylum technological apparatus that marks the constitution of psychiatry in Brazil, linked to a
European — mainly French — paradigm. On the other side, the White House, the imperialist
headquarters and condenser of psychiatric mutations in the West after World War II, which
uses community and preventive psychiatry as a paradigmatic model for global export and
colonization. Amidst these borders, inspired by Franca Ongaro Basaglia and Franco Basaglia,
Trieste (the host city of the inventive experience of the Italian psychiatric reform) is bracketed.
The goal is to open up a new indeterminacy to be collectively experienced by the Brazilian
movements fighting against asylums and psychiatry. These and other possible technologies for
visualizing and narrating phenomena ultimately lead us to displace the concept of
deinstitutionalization: it is not enough to deinstitutionalize the asylum, madness, or other
artifacts that sustain psychiatry and make it operate in society; it is necessary, in fact, to
deinstitutionalize psychiatry, the institution itself. This implies promoting its abolition in
society, in articulation with penal abolitionism.

Estados alterados e espaços fixados de consciência: psicanálise e psicodelia no ocidente moderno

Título: Estados alterados e espaços fixados de consciência: psicanálise e psicodelia no ocidente moderno
Autor(es): Meira, João Victor Ferraz
Abstract: This text begins by noting that contemporary psychoanalysis has been absent from the current
debate on psychedelia (Rundel, 2022), even though both are modern techniques for accessing
unknown records of the psyche. Analyzing this scenario, the paper proposes to reflect on what
psychedelia and the experiences it engenders might be, situating them within the broader
framework of altered states of consciousness. These states, as a brief journey through the
history of drugs in the West reveals, were proscribed and excluded from the subject's
possibilities of realization by at least three distinct but articulated movements (Plant, 2001):
(1) 20th-century prohibitionism, (2) the witch hunts within the broader context of
epistemicide and genocide operated by colonization (Grosfoguel, 2016), and (3) Platonic
thought, which served as the foundation for a hierarchical and classificatory ontology (Butler,
2023). Based on Freudian theorization—from his relationship with cocaine in the late 19th
century (Cohen, 2014; Plant, 2001) to his social texts such as Civilization and Its Discontents
(Freud, 2023a) and The Future of an Illusion (Freud, 2023b)—traces of these three processes
appear in the constitution of a psychoanalytic theory that disregarded ecstasy, reading it as
mere religious illusion, and proposed a sober technique for treating modern suffering.
Simultaneously, based on an evolutionary anthropology, it interpreted non-Western ways of
life through colonial and reductionist categories, at times precluding other readings for the
constitution of the subject and reality. Through both psychedelia (Leary, Metzner, and Alpert,
2022; Huxley, 1987; Rodrigues, 2014) and a paradigmatic shift in contemporary anthropology
(Viveiros de Castro, 2018; Kopenawa and Albert, 2013), this work seeks to reconsider altered
states of consciousness in their positivity and productivity. Following the traces of Freudian
theorizations, it looks for elements of another type of psychoanalytic anthropology, less
captive to the large unifying categories of Western thought, moving toward the ontological
multiplicity of the living. Thus, the text seeks to frame psychedelia as another way of thinking
about modern suffering, while asserting its potentiality within psychoanalytic discourse,
assessing its limits and complexities. I propose to search the traces of Freudian
theory—especially his discussion on animism (Freud, 1996) and the uncanny (unheimlich)
(Freud, 2019)—as well as contemporary psychoanalysis (Klein, 2023; Dunker, 2022;
David-Ménard, 2022), for opportunities to advance the debate. The 'impossible' of the
unconscious and its manifestations emerge as a field of reflection on altered states of
consciousness such as dreams, trance, and ecstasy, in an attempt to bridge the fields of
psychedelia and psychoanalysis.

Título: Ordenamento territorial do sistema de esgotamento sanitário e a questão socioambiental no bairro São Cristóvão, Itabaiana/SE
Autor(es): Meneses, Telmo da Mota
Abstract: The research is situated within the field of geographical studies in order to understand the
organizational dynamics of the locality, considering several aspects, including economic,
spatial, social, political, and ecological factors, as well as the territorial implications that these
systems may have on the health and environment of the neighborhood community. The study
seeks to understand the configuration of the sanitary sewage system, the effects that this system
produces on socio-spatial division, and the possible environmental and health damages to the
population. This study aims to analyze the Territorial Planning of the Sanitary Sewage System
and the socio-environmental aspects in the São Cristóvão neighborhood of Itabaiana/SE. The
relevance of this study is justified by the need for research on territorial planning at the local
scale of sanitary sewage systems, contributing to the advancement of academic discussions and
to the improvement of practices related to this topic. From a methodological perspective, this
is a qualitative research study with an approach in the field of social investigations and an
exploratory-descriptive character. The methodological procedures involved data collection and
analysis, literature review, documentary analysis, application of questionnaires, field visits, and
the use of observation techniques. Data collection was carried out through consultation of
official websites, visits to the municipal infrastructure and health departments, as well as to the
neighborhood health unit, and direct contact with the local population. The information
obtained was later analyzed through the construction of maps and graphs. The research results
indicate that there are different types of domestic wastewater dispersion systems, where more
valued areas have better sanitary infrastructure compared to less valued areas within the same
neighborhood. It was also observed that the population has limited knowledge regarding
sanitation services, which results in environmental impacts and health issues for the community
and its surroundings due to deficiencies in service provision. Therefore, it is concluded that
public policies must be implemented to address basic sanitation problems. The study
contributes to expanding the understanding of sanitary sewage systems and their implications,
providing support for other researchers interested in the subject. It is expected that the results
may assist in the formulation of new approaches and encourage further research related to the
topic.

Estehambre afecta principalmente a comunidades periféricas,
capital sergipana.
