Abstract: The text presents reflections about the experience report of the II Extension Seminar “Social Thinkers and Sport in Cinema”, carried out within the scope of the training course for Physical Education teachers at the Universidade Federal de Sergipe, in the year 2023. In this seminar, we proposed to question sport through the lens of cinema, problematizing emerging social issues in contemporary times. The following concepts were indicated: spectacle, by Guy Debord; fascism, by Umberto Eco; immunity, by Roberto Esposito; stigma, by Erving Goffman; and social drama, by Rober-to DaMatta. These concepts were analyzed in dialogues, respectively, with the movies “Rollerball” (1975), “Die Welle” (2009), “Race” (2016), “Surf’s up” (2007) and “Boleiros – era uma vez o futebol...” (1998). We conclude that the dialogue with cinema in teacher training allows us to understand that the social dynamics of the present, with the advance of authoritarian discourses and practices, of social prejudices, of the trivialization of our inequalities, needs to be problematized and fought at the root of its problematic.</description>
