The overall aim of this research was to investigate the challenges faced by female entrepreneurs and innovators, identifying opportunities for female empowerment through patent iling. The methodology adopted was qualitative, involving a literature review, documentary analysis and complementary research, analysing the period between 2018 and 2022. In addition, a quantitative survey was carried out using the Orbit software patent register. This study analyzed UFS’s patent portfolio from the perspective of intellectual property management. Using scientific journals such as Scielo, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect, along with the INPI patent database, the statuses and quantities of patent applications were examined. The results revealed that 158 submissions underwent INPI decisions, with 20 granted, eight annulled, 96 archived, and 42 rejected by the INPI. Additionally, it was found that UFS’s patenting success rate was 13%, justified by the high number of archived and rejected applications. These findings are relevant for guiding innovation centers in patent application management and maintenance. 2024-09-01T00:00:00Z
