Abstract: Forest fires are among the principal drivers of environmental degradation, altering
landscape structure and compromising biodiversity. In this context, lichens stand out
as sensitive biomonitors of environmental change. This study aimed to analyse the
relationship between the recurrence of forest fires, landscape units, and the diversity
of lichen communities in the Serra de Itabaiana National Park (PARNASI) between
1985 and 2024. The methodology integrated data from MapBiomas Fire 4.0, analysis
of landscape units, climatic variables, field surveys, lichen identification, alpha and beta
diversity indices, and correlation analysis between fire frequency and lichen diversity.
The results showed that fire recurrence was concentrated in more open areas and
during periods of lower rainfall, indicating the influence of climatic seasonality on fire
dynamics. Burnt areas exhibited reduced alpha diversity and lower specimen richness,
whereas beta diversity increased as a result of species turnover between burnt and
unburnt areas. A negative correlation was observed between fire frequency and lichen
diversity, confirming the potential of lichens as bioindicators of environmental
degradation and changes in the landscape dynamics of PARNASI.

Abstract: The aim of this thesis is to analyze the effects of the public policy that established the Family
Farming Market, the contribution of local public management to maintaining this marketing
territory, as well as the changes observed in rural establishments and their impact on food and
nutritional security. The municipalities of Cristinápolis, Indiaroba, Itabaianinha, Santa Luzia
do Itanhy, and Umbaúba—located in the southern territory of the state of Sergipe—were
selected as the spatial scope due to their strong agricultural practices. As methodological
procedures, the research began with a theoretical review focused on public policies related to
family farming, followed by a review of the categories of territory, agricultural production,
commercialization, and consumption. Subsequently, documentary analyses of secondary data
and information were carried out, addressing historical and socioeconomic dimensions,
agricultural production, and public policies aimed at family farming. Between 2023 and 2025,
the procedures mainly involved field research with farmers/vendors and consumers at the
Family Farming Markets, as well as technical representatives from municipal departments
responsible for organizing the logistics of these fairs. Visits to rural family establishments were
also conducted, including exploratory interventions and interviews based on the snowball
sampling technique, along with the use of field diaries and photographic records. The results of
this thesis highlight the social, cultural, and economic relevance of Family Farming Markets in
the southern municipalities of Sergipe. In addition to generating income for farming families
that sell in these territories, the markets have contributed to the diversification of food crops in
rural establishments, which is essential for the Food and Nutritional Security of farmers and
vendors. Regarding the maintenance and strengthening of this marketing territory, the study
reveals the effects of different actions and the support provided by municipal management
within the studied area. It is concluded that effective public actions and the interrelations
between producers and consumers strengthen the advancement and consolidation of
agroecological practices, the empowerment and socioeconomic reproduction of family farmers,

Movimentos sociais e a produção do espaço urbano em Aracaju

Título: Movimentos sociais e a produção do espaço urbano em Aracaju
Autor(es): Almeida, Ana Flávia Alves de Oliveira
Abstract: The capitalist development model has brought about transformations in the economic,
social, political, historical, and environmental spheres, which manifest themselves in
the lived space of humanity. One of the most evident expressions of this process is
rapid urbanization, which does not occur without tensions. This thesis contributes to
elucidating the contradictions of urban expansion by specifically addressing the
municipality of Aracaju, based on the conception of social movements as an
expression of class struggle in relation to the State. Its central objective is to analyze
the role of urban social movements in confronting the commodification of space, as
well as in ensuring access to housing and the social production of space in Aracaju, in
light of real estate expansion in the 21st century. Social movements are not exclusive
phenomena of the contemporary world; their origins date back to the early formation
of the State, a period marked by conflicts between social classes and disputes for
political power, which laid the foundation for the emergence and development of
contemporary social movements. The analysis is grounded in the historical-dialectical
method, which allows for understanding, based on the category of totality, that social
conflicts develop in permanent tension, expressing their contradictions. In the urban
space, this framework is manifested through the division of space among social
classes and the transformation of housing into a commodity, subordinated to the logic
of financialization, particularly within the real estate market. In this sense, urban social
movements face the challenge of avoiding co-optation by the legitimizing architecture
of the dominant class’s ideological framework. The research compared three
movements operating in different regions of Aracaju, making it possible to understand
that the State does not act homogeneously. Its intervention varies according to
location, the potential for land value appreciation, and political interests. In central
areas, the State’s response tends to be more conflictual and legally repressive; in
peripheral areas, mediation may take the form of negotiation or partial incorporation of
demands. In situations involving the formal transfer of land, there is a transformation
of social struggle into a governmental program, often subordinated to budgetary

Abstract: The appropriation and occupation of landforms in urban spaces are key factors in the
intensification of geomorphological processes and in the generation of socio-environmental
vulnerabilities, especially in cities experiencing rapid growth and insufficient territorial
planning. The central objective of this thesis is to analyze the impact of land use on the
establishment of areas of environmental vulnerability within the landscape units of the
municipality of Arapiraca, Alagoas, located in the Agreste region of Alagoas, the second-largest
urban center in the state of Alagoas. The study is grounded in a systemic approach, based on
General Systems Theory, the geosystem concept, and ecodynamics, integrating physical-natural
and socioeconomic variables to understand landscape units and their levels of environmental
vulnerability and stability. The methodology involved the application of geoprocessing
techniques and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including the production of thematic
maps of geology, geomorphology, soils, land use and land cover, climate, and hydrography.
Environmental vulnerability was assessed using the methodology proposed by Crepani et al.
(1996, 2001, 2008). The socio-environmental analysis was complemented by the construction
of a sustainability index based on demographic, economic, and infrastructure indicators derived
from IBGE census data for the years 1991, 2000, 2010, and 2022, allowing for an evaluation of
the temporal evolution of sustainability conditions in the municipality. The results indicate that
urban expansion in Arapiraca has occurred in a fragmented and uneven manner, largely
disregarding geoenvironmental constraints. This process has intensified erosion, mass
movement, flooding, and the degradation of water resources, particularly in landscape units
associated with dissected relief surfaces and aggradational plains. These areas exhibit the
highest levels of environmental vulnerability, especially in zones of urban expansion and
informal occupation. Conversely, areas with better infrastructure and more structured urban
planning show higher levels of socio-environmental stability. The study concludes that
landform appropriation driven primarily by economic and real estate interests, without adequate
consideration of environmental limitations, increases geomorphological instability and
amplifies socio-environmental risks. The proposed ecological-economic zoning emerges as a
strategic tool to support territorial planning and environmental management, contributing to
vulnerability reduction and the promotion of more sustainable urban development in Arapiraca.
