Título: Cartilha para a gestão da arborização urbana do município de Itabaiana, Sergipe
Autor(es): Santana, Matheus Santos
Abstract: The implementation of urban afforestation contributes to reducing temperatures, noise, and surface water runoff, as well as improving air quality and the physical and mental health of people in urban areas. Its failure, evidenced in conflicts with urban structures and the predominant use of exotic species, is mainly related to a lack of planning and the inappropriate use of species. Given this, considering the potential of informational materials such as booklets to convey information in a clear and accessible way, the purpose of this work was to develop a booklet for the management of urban tree planting in the municipality of Itabaiana, Sergipe. To this end, a bibliographic survey was conducted of booklets, guides, manuals on tree planting, and related municipal laws, seeking a basis for the content of the material. The selection of native species recommended in the booklet was made based on certain criteria, through consultation of specific literature on native Brazilian trees. The material was laid out using the Canva platform. The booklet consists of 71 pages, containing a summary, introduction, main text, references, and glossary. The body of the text covers the benefits of tree planting, guidelines on pre-planting, planting, and managing trees in urban environments, contraindications for the use of some exotic species, information on the 44 native species recommended for planting in urban areas, and some common actions that should not be performed on trees. Thus, it can be concluded that the material developed, the first of its kind for the interior of the state of Sergipe, offers practical guidance in an instructive manner, contributing to the proper management of urban tree planting in Itabaiana.
