Abstract: The perception of aesthetic dental treatments is strongly influenced
by the use of social media. The presence of influencers and health
professionals increasingly active in these digital environments contributes
to the widespread dissemination and normalization of the results of dental
procedures in society. The objective of this research is to analyze the
scientific production on the influence of social media on the perception
of facial and orofacial aesthetics through a bibliometric review, identifying
research trends and the scientific impact of the studies. Regarding methodology,
a search strategy was carried out using the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS-CC)
databases, including original articles and reviews, without language restriction,
from 2014 to 2026 and structured in three conceptual blocks. Studies that investigated
the influence of social networks on the perception of facial and/or dental aesthetics
were included. In the results, there is a progression in the number of articles
published on the subject and the countries with the greatest influence are the United
States and Saudi Arabia. In conclusion, this review can provide support for researchers
and health professionals; therefore, it is recommended to encourage new bibliometric
reviews in order to keep up with trends on this topic.

Abstract: Hypomineralization in primary teeth is a pathological condition with a complex and still
unclear etiology that has increasingly attracted the interest of the scientific community due to its
broad impact on the quality of life of pediatric patients. In this context, several studies aim to
standardize diagnostic criteria and select the best strategies for the clinical management of this
dental condition to promote improvements in oral well-being and avoid associated
complications. For this systematic review, sources such as PubMed, Google Scholar SciELO,
and BVS (Virtual Health Library) were consulted to analyze the most recent scientific
productions relevant to the topic and answer the research question. The results show that the best
approaches involve an accurate diagnosis of the extent and severity of the HMD and the use of
minimally invasive techniques appropriate to each situation, combining the reliability of
well-established techniques and materials with the innovative multimodality of new dental
resources.

Reabilitação estética de dentes com mancha por tetraciclina por meio de facetas diretas em resina composta

Abstract: Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used in the treatment of several
bacterial infections. However, its administration during odontogenesis may
result in the incorporation of the drug into mineralized tissues due to its ability to
bind to calcium ions, causing intrinsic tooth discoloration. The severity of
pigmentation is related to the administered dose, duration of treatment, and
stage of dental mineralization, and may present color variations ranging from
yellow, gray, and brown shades. These alterations may compromise smile
aesthetics and negatively impact the patient’s quality of life, potentially
indicating the need for restorative approaches. In this context, direct composite
resin veneers represent a conservative and effective alternative for the
aesthetic rehabilitation of tetracycline-discolored teeth. The present study aims
to report a clinical case of a 23-year-old female patient with tetracycline-induced
tooth discoloration, submitted to the association of in-office dental bleaching
and aesthetic rehabilitation through direct composite resin veneers, as well as
to perform a literature review on therapeutic approaches for
tetracycline-pigmented teeth.

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate self-perception and the level of knowledge regarding halitosis among
individuals receiving dental care at the undergraduate clinics of the Department of Dentistry,
Federal University of Sergipe (DOD-UFS). Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional
observational study was conducted using a structured questionnaire comprising 13 questions
related to self-perception and knowledge of halitosis. Eighty volunteers attending the DOD-UFS
dental clinics participated in the study. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results:
Most participants reported experiencing halitosis at some frequency (71.3%) and perceived the
condition mainly upon waking (86.3%). Lack of tooth brushing and prolonged periods without
eating were the situations most frequently associated with oral malodor. An unpleasant taste in
the mouth was the main self-perceived indicator of the condition (78.8%). Regarding knowledge
about halitosis, more than half of the participants attributed its origin to the stomach. Seeking a
healthcare professional and self-assessment were the most commonly recognized methods for
detecting halitosis. In addition, 87.5% of the participants believed that halitosis may have
psychological consequences, and dentists were identified as the healthcare professionals most
qualified to diagnose the condition. Conclusion: A high frequency of self-perceived halitosis
upon waking was observed, with self-assessment being the main method used to identify the
condition. Despite recognizing the importance of professional evaluation, participants still held
misconceptions regarding the etiology of halitosis.
