The aim of this study was to identify the characteristics of the application of Six Sigma methodology to reduce wear materials and rolling materials costs for mobile and semi-mobile equipments of a minig company. The approach was qualitative, descriptive, through documentary research. The universe consisted of a mining company located in Sao Goncalo do Rio Abaixo city, in Minas Gerais. The sample was the maintenance sector and mine operation of this mining company. It was observed that the analyzed sector defines Six Sigma as a methodology that seeks to improve processes and reduce costs through research and problem solving. The statistical tools used for this methodology are sequential chart, Pareto’s diagram, normality test and control charts, and quality tools are Ishikawa’s diagram and 5W2H. The results of the implementation of Six Sigma indicated wear materials and rolling materials cost reduction for mobile and semimobile equipments of the mining company. 2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
