Título: Avaliação de estratégias de modelagem guiada por dados para previsão de vazão em rio sergipano

Abstract: Among several streamflow forecasting techniques, data-driven models (DDMs) are
widely used. They employ a database formed by historical input (precipitation and
streamflow) and output (streamflow) variables to perform the prediction. Artificial neural
networks (ANNs) are the most common types of DDMs, and are typically more accurate than
other empirical models, but have the disadvantage of not being sufficiently transparent. One
of the machine-learning methods that do not have this problem is the so-called “instance-based
learning” (IBL). The KNN algorithm is an example of IBL. This research applies and
proposes variations of the KNN model in order to forecast streamflows in a river of the state
of Sergipe, Brazil. The results are compared to simulations carried out by the use of artificial
neural networks and indicate the superiority of the ANNs, but also show satisfactory forecasts
of the KNN.

Abstract: The use of treated wastewater for irrigation may become an alternative for regions facing
water scarcity. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of wastewater reuse in the cultivation of radish (Raphanus sativus L.). The experiment was conducted in the greenhouse of the
Department of Agricultural Engineering (DEA), located at the Federal University of
Sergipe/Campus of São Cristóvão from August to September 2011. The effluent was
collected at the Sewage Treatment Plant (WWTP) Rosa Elze, located in the municipality of
São Cristóvão/SE. Irrigation was performed using five different dilutions, and was
accomplished using the method of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) 56. The
experimental design was a completely randomized design (CRD) with five replications and
two plants per useful plot. The study evaluated height, fresh and dry shoot matter, length and
fresh weight of root, fruit diameter and number of leaves. The data were subjected to ANOVA
and means were compared by the Tukey test at 5 % probability, with no significant difference.
Regarding the microbiological quality of the bulb, the results of the enumeration of coliforms,
mesophilic aerobic bacteria and the detection of Salmonella demonstrate that the radish is
within the standards established by legislation.

Abstract: Soil erosion is a natural phenomenon that reduces soil fertility and causes a great impact on agricultural
areas. Laminar erosion is characterized by the removal of the top soil fairly uniformly as well as its
nutrients, which is accelerated by human activities. To minimize the impacts it is necessary to adopt an
adequate soil management that takes into account the type of the soil, relief, and vegetation cover. The
soil management can be aided by mapping the erosive potential of a region using GIS tools. In this work,
the technique that was used for mapping the erosive potential in the Japaratuba River Basin (1685 km2
)
located in the State of Sergipe is presented. The results show that 48.71% of the basin area lie within
medium and high erosive potentials zones, suggesting the inadequate land use for the soil types and
relief within the basin.

Abstract: Water is an essential resource for meeting human needs, but rising temperatures are making it scarce in parts of the world. Pollution of
water sources, due to the lack of sewage treatment, is also a factor that influences the quantity and quality of water available. Given
this reality, this study set out to develop a systematic mapping of the literature in order to analyze the publications of articles on the
reuse of wastewater for irrigation. The SCOPUS database was used to search for articles, using the keywords: "Wastewater" or
"Graywater", "Irrigation", "Agriculture" and "Reuse". The results showed that in the titles of the publications, the most used keywords
were: "Irrigation", "Wastewater", "Water recovered" and "Agricultural irrigation" and of the keywords were: "Wastewater",
"Agriculture", "Water reuse", "Irrigation" and "Wastewater reuse". It was also noted that, according to the number of publications, the
articles found are current studies and that the year 2020 had the highest number of publications. In terms of the topic covered, the
United States stood out from the other countries for having the highest publication rate, 15% of the total. The journal Science of the
Total Environment had the highest number of articles on the subject, 14% of the total published. The quality parameters commonly
studied were: COD (12%), nitrogen (10%), conductivity (9%), suspended solids (9%), phosphorus (8%), pH (8%) and BOD (7%). The
study showed that the technique is a suitable option for the proper disposal of effluents.
