The overall aim of this research was to investigate the challenges faced by female entrepreneurs and innovators, identifying opportunities for female empowerment through patent iling. The methodology adopted was qualitative, involving a literature review, documentary analysis and complementary research, analysing the period between 2018 and 2022. In addition, a quantitative survey was carried out using the Orbit software patent register. The results show low female participation in patent iling at UFS and in the Northeast region, highlighting the need for initiatives to promote gender equity and female participation in patent iling.
