Abstract: Ouricuri and toré are two political processes that enable the social organization of the
Kariri-Xokó indigenous community within the geographical limits of the Terra Indígena
Kariri-Xocó. We identified these two processes through three specific objectives: 1) to
review the territorialization of the Kariri-Xokó community; 2) describe the current situation
of the Kariri-Xokó community; 3) to introduce the Fulkaxó and the Kaxagó (two ethnic
groups that live in Terra Indígena Kariri-Xocó). We analyzed the tensions of the KaririXokó community in the light of anthropological concepts of ethnic group and
territorialization. We found that, despite political differences, the relationship of the
Fulkaxó families with the Kariri-Xokó community is thought in terms of belonging to a
single collectivity. Similarly, we found that, despite the representation of ethnic kinship
associated with a particular origin, there is at least one effective and significant case of
kinship bond between the Kaxagó families and the Kariri-Xokó leaders. The main
contribution of the work is to find a marriage union between a Kaxagó man and a woman
whose rise refers to important leaders of the Kariri-Xokó community. The identification of
this alliance provides empirical support for future anthropological research between the
Kaxagó and the Kariri-Xokó.

Abstract: This is an ethnographic study focused on the ritual of the Jurema Sagrada performed at the
spiritual center Aldeia Luz da Floresta, located on the banks of the São Francisco River, in the
village of Vila Moxotó, municipality of Delmiro Gouveia, in the semi-arid region of Alagoas,
Brazil. The work presents a descriptive analysis of the ritual, centered on the protagonism of
the cabocla/shaman who leads the group and develops spiritual and therapeutic experiences
within the neo-shamanic line, using the “contemporary” Jurema brew — an entheogenic sacred
drink prepared from the inner bark of the roots of Jurema-Preta (Mimosa tenuiflora) and Syrian
Rue (Peganum harmala). Guided by its own performance and methodology, the ritual displays
a symbolic framework that intertwines elements of Indigenous and African (Afro-Indigenous)
religiosity and esotericism, expressed through a cosmology involving the therapeutics of
musicality, thereby contributing to the field of ethnographic studies on Rural Northeastern
Neoshamanism. The study investigates the ritual practice of Aldeia Luz da Floresta, with
particular attention to the trajectory of Nilma Carvalho. Her identity as an Indigenous woman,
her migration from the Amazon/Pará region to the semi-arid Northeast, and her reconnection
with Jurema personify the synthesis embodied by the ritual. The text situates her as a leader
who articulates ancestral knowledge in a contemporary form. The ethnographic research
introduces an innovative dimension by combining the ethnographic method with the personal
experience of the researcher — himself a juremeiro and group member — through participant
observation during ritual ceremonies. The qualitative research also involves interviews, photoethnography, and documentary research. The work provides a theoretical foundation that
incorporates both classical and contemporary authors, addressing anthropological theory on
symbolism, the efficacy of rituals, the culture of entheogenic plants, and the transformations of
shamanism in contemporary contexts. The discussion addresses the phenomenon of Jurema in
the semi-arid region, its symbolic and scientific transformations, as well as its socioenvironmental, geographic, and cultural impacts. Conducted within the caatinga biome —
where the São Francisco River (Opará) is a central element for the survival of the region —
the research explores a landscape marked by disputes and conflicts arising from the
construction of hydroelectric plants by CHESF and the displacement of local riverine
populations. This context enriches the anthropological analysis of the geographic space where
the ritual practice takes place, representing a strong contribution to current debates on ritual
studies, spirituality, ethnobotany, and contemporary urban spiritual practices.

Abstract: This master's research aimed to identify, analyze, and present the social
representations of students at the Manoel Messias Feitosa Center of Excellence,
located in the municipality of Nossa Senhora da Glória, Sergipe state (SE), regarding
the phenomenon of domestic violence against women. The research is based on
theoretical contributions from authors such as Scott (1995), Grossi (1998), Couto
(2008), (Costa et al.,2020), Butler (2018), and Saffioti (2015), whose contributions are
central to understanding the analytical categories of gender, gender-based violence,
and domestic violence. The study is also anchored in Moscovici's Theory of Social
Representations (2007), aiming to understand how third-year high school students at
the aforementioned institution perceive and interpret domestic violence, in addition to
identifying the factors that influence these conceptions. The research adopts a
qualitative approach with ethnographically inspired methods, including interviews,
questionnaires, observations, and field diaries, allowing for an in-depth mapping of
students' perceptions on the topic. The analysis of empirical data aims to contribute
critical reflections on preventing and addressing domestic violence. The aim is to foster
pedagogical initiatives that promote greater awareness and sensitivity among young
people and the school community, enabling the expansão of this debate beyond the
school environment.

"Você aqui de novo?": a atuação do DAGV de Aracaju-SE no enfrentamento à violência doméstica contra as mulheres

Título: "Você aqui de novo?": a atuação do DAGV de Aracaju-SE no enfrentamento à violência doméstica contra as mulheres
Autor(es): Souza, Karina França de
Abstract: This research is dedicated to analyzing the treatment received by women who seek assistance at the Department for the Assistance of Vulnerable Groups (DAGV) in Aracaju, Sergipe, in contexts of domestic violence. The study adopts ethnography as its methodology, combined with participant observation and interviews with DAGV staff members. Recurrent practices of revictimization, reproduction of sexist discourses, and the failure to recognize less visible forms of violence, such as psychological abuse, reveal the stigma experienced by women, who are assessed according to binary and patriarchal standards that reinforce male domination and sustain mechanisms of impunity. The interviews also reveal internal contradictions within the institution: some professionals blame women for the violence they suffer, suggesting negligence in “self-care,” while others denounce structural failures such as lack of privacy during appointments, scarcity of material resources, and insufficient technical training of the staff. Added to this is the denial of the severity of the cases by some agents, who discredit statistics and question the truthfulness of victims’ accounts. Thus, the study offers a critical reflection on the limitations and contradictions of public policies aimed at combating violence against women, contextualizing their practical effects in the institutional daily life of the DAGV.
