Os desafios do profissional tradutor e intérprete da língua brasileira de sinais : um estudo do caso da intérprete (A.B.S.) da Universidade Federal de Sergipe, Campus de Itabaiana

Abstract

For many years, translators and interpreters of LIBRAS have sought recognition and appreciation from society. The present research had as general objective to perform a study about this professional interpreter of LIBRAS, through the study of the case of the ABS interpreter, who works at the Federal University of Sergipe, campus of Itabaiana, in order to investigate how this interpreter her training, the relationship with teachers in the classroom and the deaf student, the reasons that made her choose this profession and the general knowledge about it. The theoretical basis was based on bibliographical research and official documents of laws that defend the rights of the professional interpreter of LIBRAS. The methodology was developed from a case study, which had the technique of data collection to perform an interview with the interpreter A.B.S., in order to get to know in depth the daily life of this profession. The questions that were asked were open to the interpreter to feel at ease and to be able to give more comprehensive answers, all these questions were related to the objective of this work and, thus we obtained many important data that showed how the profession actually happens in the quotidian. The research is divided into three chapters; in Chapter I an approach was made on the history of the profession of pound sterling as well as the options of courses that are offered for the training of this professional by higher education institutions. Chapter II dealt with national laws and Sergipe legislation, the laws guaranteeing the rights of the professional interpreter, and Chapter III examined how the profession of the LIBRAS interpreter is carried out by conducting a comparative analysis between theory and practice. practice. From the answers given by the interpreter in the interview, these are very clearly, we have as results that the interpreter who was the focus of the study of this research, has a vast knowledge about the profession, has a quality training and all the requirements to act in the classroom. The relationship with the teachers and the deaf student is quiet, and she feels comfortable working out her work. Two negative points were also posed by the interpreter who is the lack of union between the professional interpreters of the State of Sergipe and the lack of attention and respect of the UFS for not having the initiative to introduce the interpreter and inform the presence of the deaf student in the classroom . Regarding research as a whole, the only negative point was the omission of information about the association of state interpreters by some of its members. In addition, one can consider the results quite satisfactory and thus, the objective that was sought in this research was reached.
