| Resumo : | A proposta dessa pesquisa é analisar como a finança dolarizada dá aos EUA a capacidade de intervir no Sistema Internacional por meio de sanções financeiras. Nesse sentido, o trabalho está dividido em três etapas. A primeira consiste em uma análise das redes de interdependência que compõem o Sistema Monetário e Financeiro Internacional (SMFI), identificando suas hierarquias e assimetrias. A segunda tem como objeto as respostas dadas pelos EUA aos atentados de 11/09, quando as sanções financeiras ganharam maior protagonismo como instrumento de política externa sob responsabilidade do Departamento do Tesouro. Por fim, será mostrado como esses instrumentos coercitivos foram utilizados contra o Irã |
| Abstract: | The purpose of this research is to analyze how dollarized finance gives the United States the ability to intervene in the International System through financial sanctions. In this sense, this study is divided into three stages. The first consists of an analysis of the interdependence networks that characterize the International Monetary and Financial System (IMFS), identifying it’s hierarchies and asymmetries. The second concerns the responses given by the USA to the 9/11 attacks, when financial sanctions gained greater prominence as an instrument of foreign policy under the responsibility of the Treasury Department. Finally, it will be shown how these coercive instruments were used against Iran. |
