Disseminação da informação no combate à violência contra a mulher : um estudo exploratório na cidade de Aracaju – Sergipe

Abstract

Violence against women is a social problem that affects women regardless of creed, race, ethnicity, financial situation, and its occurrences have increased exponentially in all parts of the world. The information dissemination, due to its power to reach out, is essential to combat violence against women, because through the sharing of information, in the most varied formats and informational channels, it reaches a significant number of the population, especially the women who suffer violence, enabling them to recognize the situation in which they live and be aware of their rights. Based on these premises, the general objective of this work is to identify the actions of information dissemination to combat violence against women in five institutions that support women in situations of violence in the city of Aracaju – SE. For the specific objectives, we sought to analyze, within a historical and contemporary perspective, the relationship between information dissemination and combating violence against women; to identify the sources of information used by the institutions for the information dissemination in combating violence against women; and finally, to verify the barriers encountered by the institutions for the information dissemination in combating violence against women. To meet and reach the objectives of this research, the methodology adopted was exploratory and descriptive, of a qualitative and quantitative nature and, as for the collection of documents, it was used bibliographic and documentary research through printed and electronic materials. For data collection a questionnaire was used, developed through Google forms, containing open and closed questions and sent via e-mail to the five chosen institutions, to which three of them responded. The results were obtained based on the information extracted from the answers given b the institutions, presenting the main dissemination actions and sources of information adopted by them, such as the dissemination of campaigns and events about the networks of confrontation and assistance, the making of posters and pamphlets, as well as the information dissemination materials, such as the normative instruments inherent to the theme. The internet was the most cited source of information by the institutions, through the sharing of information and materials on institutional websites and social media, responding to the general and specific objectives of this work. Regarding the difficulties pointed out by the institutions for the dissemination process, the lack of access to the internet by economically vulnerable women stands out. Finally, it is evident the importance of the information dissemination as an essential tool in combating violence against women, being carried out frequently by the chosen institutions, in which the institutions participating in the research contribute to the reduction of a social problem still present in our society.
