Abstract

The United Nations –UN, uses its world legitimacy to promote peace and growth in areas such as economic, social, political, humanitarian and cultural. As an international organization, it can and must act in different areas exercising geopolitics. It currently brings together 193 countries, aiming at the common good, as members of the organization. Its main document is the Charter of the United Nations that was made in 1945 and addresses its guidelines, its organs and its recommendations. The UN promotes debates and discussions at the world level. This article addresses the UN's internal structures to conceptualize socially and historically in order to research, understand and demonstrate its functioning and how this functioning helps to achieve peace. As a methodology, it is presented as a bibliographic and documentary research, having as specific objectives to identify the origin and internal organization, to identify its area of ??action in the international sphere and to conceptualize its own bodies and classify the UN, the following results were achieved: the UN if they propose to achieve international peace that they propose, but there are several areas that are neglected by the organization or that a large structure, finally presenting itself as an intergovernmental entity.
