Explorando o uso e a função social de um patrimônio: proposta de readaptação e intervenção na antiga Escola Normal de Aracaju/SE

Abstract

The discussion about the loss of patrimony assets due to abandonment and ruin is recurrent. However, this work presents another problem about monuments: the lack of effective use, even if the building is in operation and in good physical condition. This is the case of the former Escola Normal de Aracaju, currently the Tourism Center, to be analyzed in this work. Although well located in the city and inserted in the Historic Center, between Praça Olímpio Campos and Rua do Turista, it is not widely used. For this reason, a survey of the historical and physical context of the building was carried out, through its origins, characteristics and influences, investigation of potentialities and new uses for the construction of an effective social and utilitarian function, which indicated the need to implement a program for a Welcome Center and of Training for homeless people, in addition to incorporating improvements in the quality of the green area and entertainment and leisure space with a food court to the building's courtyard, in view of accessibility and environmental comfort. Thus, in the end, the work presents a proposal for readaptation and intervention to recover the relevance of the patrimony in order to serve the region.
