Aleitamento materno sob impacto da covid-19: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

Introduction: Breast milk is the main source of food in the first six months of life. It contains a diversity of cells, having great relevance, since no other artificial food can replace or perform the functions of these cells. During the pandemic period, the breastfeeding process was directly affected due to uncertainties about the new disease and its relationship with breast milk. Objective: To know what the specialized literature in the health area brings about breastfeeding during the Covid-19 pandemic, as a way to subsidize the actions of nursing professionals who work in the assistance and care of women in the puerperal pregnancy cycle, providing and improving knowledge that collaborate for the effectiveness of the service. Method: refers to an integrative literature review. For their accomplishment, the studies were chosen, categorized and analyzed, the databases used were: BDENF, SCIELO, LILACS and PUBMED, with the descriptors “Breastfeeding/Newborn”, “Coronavirus” AND “Coronavirus Infection”. The articles were examined and later, the tables and descriptive synthesis of the selected articles were prepared. Results: Of the 25 selected studies, most publications were made in Brazil (19). The year with the highest number of publications was 2020 (13). Conclusion: The importance of breastfeeding is known, but it is necessary to increase its dissemination, as it is still important to expand strategies that help in the promotion of breastfeeding, demystifying and breaking the paradigms about breastfeeding with mothers infected by SARS-CoV-2.
