Feira livre de Nossa Senhora da Glória como patrimônio imaterial do estado de Sergipe

Abstract

The present work aims to highlight the importance of the Feira Livre de Nossa Senhora da Glória as an intangible heritage of the state of Sergipe. Over the years, it transcends its original function as a commerce center, as in addition to influencing the city's physical structure, it plays a significant role in the community's social, economic and cultural interactions. The fair is a space where gastronomic, artisanal and musical traditions intertwine, contributing to the preservation of local identity and strengthening Sergipe's cultural heritage. The flavors, aromas and colors present at the fair are living expressions of local culture, passed down from generation to generation. The methodology used was bibliographical, documentary research and ethnography - used for a detailed description of the fair. In this way, the research seeks to recognize the Free Fair of Nossa Senhora da Glória as a Sergipe heritage, which, like the fairs of Caruaru and Campina Grande, registered in the Places Registry Book of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN), it can be valued as intangible heritage, that is, as a space for the production and experiences of cultural practices in the region.
