Língua, história e memória: processos de (re)categorização na reconstrução da memória social de Lampião

Abstract

This work is part of a larger research project, developed by Federal University of Sergipe, which is entitled "Language, History and Memory: processes referencing in statements about Highwayman." In this research, will be presenting some results of the project. The aim of this paper is to show how the social memory of the bandit Lantern is reconstructed by means of referring expressions and recategorization through statements given by residents of the city of Itabaiana, central-west region of Sergipe. What can be observed is that the construction of related issues Lantern passes beyond the linguistic, because it involves elements of social, cognitive and cultural. You may notice also how the statements reveal new meanings for this phenomenon.
