| Resumo : | O presente artigo discorrerá sobre a manutenção dos costumes senhoriais alinhado com as novas demandas do convívio social, por consequência as legalidades da sociedade sergipana no século XIX, particularmente em 1830. Pois, são atribuídos novos panoramas para o ordenamento, o controle e a vigilância e, assim a disposição da pesquisa é compreender como os contrapontos de conservação do sistema colonial brasileiro e os corpos institucionais com suas legislações impactaram as classes sociais em Sergipe. Dessa forma, com embasamentos teóricos dos pesquisadores Hebe Matos, Leila Algranti e Sidney Chalhoub mais a documentação do Arquivo Público de Sergipe – especificamente o Fundo de Governo – Série G2 são norteadores para correlação da construção social interligada às instituições, consequentemente, as condições necessárias na continuidade dos costumes. Para tal, almeja-se através da pesquisa obter a confluência do modus vigente – patriarcal e escravocrata sergipano na construção dos atributos legais para permanência da supremacia/regalias dessa sociedade branca. |
| Abstract: | This article examines how seigneurial customs persisted in 19th-century Sergipe, Brazil, particularly around 1830, despite the evolving social landscape. It explores the legal framework of Sergipe society at this time and how it shaped the dynamics of order, control, and surveillance. The research investigates the interplay between the remnants of Brazil's colonial system and its burgeoning institutions, including their legislative impact on Sergipe's social classes. Using the theoretical work of Hebe Matos, Leila Algranti, and Sidney Chalhoub, along with documents from the Sergipe Public Archives' Government Fund (Series G2), this study analyzes the relationship between social structures and institutions, and how this relationship facilitated the perpetuation of traditional customs. The ultimate goal is to understand how the prevailing patriarchal and slave-owning system in Sergipe influenced the development of legal mechanisms designed to maintain the supremacy and privileges of its white elite. |
