| Resumo : | O presente artigo analisa a atuação do jornal O Globo no contexto da crise política brasileira entre janeiro e abril de 1964, período que culminou na deposição de João Goulart e na instauração do regime civil-militar. Fundamentado na perspectiva metodológica de José D'Assunção Barros, o estudo compreende o periódico como ator histórico inserido em um lugar de produção específico, e não como fonte neutra dos acontecimentos. A pesquisa é de natureza qualitativa, histórica e documental, tendo como corpus edições do jornal no recorte temporal delimitado, analisadas à luz da Análise Crítica do Discurso. Dialoga-se, ainda, com as interpretações de Marcos Napolitano, Lilia Moritz Schwarcz, Heloisa Murgel Starling e Carlos Fico. Conclui-se que o jornal participou ativamente da construção de sentidos que contribuíram para a legitimação da ruptura democrática. |
| Abstract: | This article analyzes the role of the newspaper O Globo in the context of the Brazilian political crisis between January and April 1964, a period that culminated in the deposition of João Goulart and the establishment of the civil-military regime. Based on the methodological perspective of José D'Assunção Barros, the study understands the newspaper as a historical actor embedded in a specific place of production, and not as a neutral source of events. The research is qualitative, historical, and documentary in nature, using editions of the newspaper within the delimited time frame as its corpus, analyzed using Critical Discourse Analysis. It also engages with the interpretations of Marcos Napolitano, Lilia Moritz Schwarcz, Heloisa Murgel Starling, and Carlos Fico. It concludes that the newspaper actively participated in the construction of meanings that contributed to the legitimization of the democratic rupture. |
