Resumo : Abarema cochliacarpos, known as barbatimão, is a Brazilian species with notable use in folk medicine. Its bark is used in the form of tea or extract (‘potions’) produced by maceration in white wine or rum for curing and treating gastritis, ulcers, wounds, inflammation and pain, among other uses. The study of antioxidant activity at pH 7.4 of the extract of the ethyl acetate phase of Abarema cochliocarpos was performed by cyclic voltammetry (VC) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), excellent voltammetric sensors and important to analyze the electrochemical behavior of phenolics compounds (catechin), which are electroactive species and are involved in the antioxidant process. Thus, the plant shows very significant potential for the pharmaceutical industry
