Efeito de colutórios e dentifrícios clareadores na cor dos dentes bovinos manchados artificialmente com vinho tinto

Abstract

Purpose: To evaluate, in vitro, the influence of mouthwashes and bleaching dentifrices on the color change of artificially stained bovine teeth with red wine. Materials and Methods: One hundred and twenty freshly extracted bovine incisors were obtained and stored in 0.1% thymol solution and were selected according to their similarity in color, with structural integrity and regular surface. The teeth were divided into six groups, through a randomization and immersed in wine solution, three groups were used as control group and the other three as experimental. For the control group, POBDentifrice Oral-B for health (6 and 12 weeks), POB + COB-Oral Dentifrice for B-health + the COB-Oral-B Oral Health (6 and 12 weeks). The experimental group was the PCLW-Colgate Luminous White Advanced Dentifrice (6 and 12 weeks, PCLW + C3DC-Dentifrice Colgate Luminous White Advanced + White Luxe 3D Whitening Mouthwash (6 and 12 weeks) and finally the C3DC) Crest Luxe 3D whitening funnel (6 and 12 weeks). The color measurement was performed by a spectrophotometer using the CIE system L * a * b *, obtaining the values ?E, ?L, ?a and ?b at times between 6 and 12 weeks. The acquired data were submitted to the tests: ANOVA and Tukey. Results: For the ?E, the bleaching mouthwash in isolation or associated with the bleaching paste showed lower ?E. The ?L was higher for the COB group (0.06 for 6 weeks and 7.03 for 12 weeks), as well as for the PCLW group (8.19 for 6 weeks and 10.75 for 12 weeks), and there were also differences with the groups with (PCLW + C3DC) and no bleaching agents (POB + COB) for the two evaluated times, with higher values of L for the PCLW + C3DC group. The bleaching paste alone decreased ?a at 12 weeks (PCLW -2.16 for 6 weeks and -2.09 for 12 weeks), the association of the paste with the bleaching mouthwash also decreased these values after 12 weeks (PCLW + C3DC -5.48 for 6 weeks weeks and -2.72 for 12 weeks) and use of mouthwash alone reduced values for groups containing bleaching agents (C3DC -6.04 for 6 weeks and -7.76 for 12 weeks). The ?b presented lower values when using the bleaching mouthwash (C3DC) alone and when using the isolated bleaching paste (PCLW) with isolated mouthwash (C3DC). Conclusion: The use of bleaching mouthwash in isolation or associated with whitening paste were effective on color management caused by red wine, considering the ?E and ?L.
