Resumen:	Asthma is the most common chronic disease in children and is considered a public health problem. In this context, the success of asthma management in children can be achieved through collaboration among children, caregivers and health professionals, such as the pharmacist. In the literature, pharmacist’s interventions have been shown to be effective in improving the health outcomes of adult patients with asthma. Differently, studies on pharmacist’s interventions children with asthma are scarce, as well as studies addressing perceptions of children and their caregivers. Aim. To understand asthma in children regarding the impact of pharmacist’s interventions and patient perceptions. Methods. In the first stage of the study, a systematic literature review was performed to assess the effect of pharmacist’s interventions on health indicators of children with asthma. In the second stage, a qualitative study was carried out, in which two focus groups were conducted. The first focus group consisted of children with asthma from seven to twelve years old, while the second group was composed of their respective caregivers. Data analysis was done through the technique of Bardin’s content analysis. Results. In the systematic review, 3671 studies were identified which, after the analysis of the inclusion criteria, resulted in 5 included studies. Most of the studies were conducted in the United States (n=2) and in outpatient settings (n=4). Regarding the assessed outcomes, the most common was visits to the emergency department (n=3). None of the included studies assessed economic outcomes. The steps of the work process were heterogeneous. The pharmacist's time of service varied between 20-45 minutes, while the number of encounters varied from 1 to 3. Regarding the qualitative study, seven patients participated in the study, with the presence of seven caregivers. The children who participated in the study had an average of 9.5 years old and used an average of 3.71 medicines. The caregivers who participated in the study had an average of 42.6 years, the majority of whom were married (52.14%) and the family income of the families was, on average, 1.24 minimum wages. Regarding asthma, 52.14% (n=4) had uncontrolled asthma Regarding asthma, 52.14% (n=4) had uncontrolled asthma, with a mean time of diagnosis and treatment of 3.21 and 3.78 years, respectively. Conclusion. The systematic review concludes that there are few studies on pharmacist’s interventions in children with asthma between 0-12 years old. In addition, the pharmacist's work process and outcomes are heterogeneous. These facts limit the understanding of pharmaceutical interventions in children with asthma, as well as their impact. On the other hand, asthma and its pharmacotherapy affect the lives of children and mothers. While children feel the impact due to the limitations in daily activities, mothers have their lives affected in many ways. In this sense, health professionals should promote evidence-based educational interventions and established work processes, focusing on the reception of families to provide care that meets the needs of families.
