Erros em demonstrações de grupo e anel

Abstract

This work seeks to list the difficulties presented by students when demonstrating that a set equipped with certain operations is an algebraic structure. We will focus our study on group and ring structures. When working on the Algebraic Structures course during academic life, the need arose to investigate the difficulties of students in demonstrating algebraic structures, generating discussions in the Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisa em Educação Matemática - GEPEMAT, intensifying the interest in this issue. As subjects of this research we have students from the Licenciatura em Matemática course at the Campus Professor Alberto Carvalho of the Universidade Federal de Sergipe who are studying Estruturas Algébricas I and II. The research methodology used is the analysis of errors by CURY (1988), using a qualitative and quantitative process, not only the number of hits and misses but also the types of errors that were presented were evaluated, concluding that most of the research participants they know the properties necessary for the algebraic structure, but cannot make a logically coherent demonstration of them.
