Memoração e negritude : o FASC como objeto de representação da cultura afro-sergipana

Abstract

The São Cristóvão Arts Festival (FASC) aims to celebrate Sergipe culture and art. Undoubtedly, it can be imagined that the recognition and appreciation of cultural diversity contribute to a re-education of ethnic-racial relations. Black culture, which for years was marginalized, with no spaces or concern for certain groups with the identity and memory of the Afro-Brazilian population, currently needs to find places that disseminate their culture, roots and ancestry. It is in this sense that FASC operates, opening the doors to the cultural preservation of the Afro people, whether through their cultural and artistic presentations and representations. São Cristóvão has several Afro-descendant roots, which at the festival are expressed through cuisine, clothing and artistic presentations, thus contributing to the construction of the importance of the memory of these people, influencing even the black population itself, which feels lacking in representation in these spaces. power. Thus, the research aims to unravel the views of the Afro-Sergipe population in relation to FASC, also showing the perspective of black culture at the Festival in the last 10 (ten) years, using oral reports from this black population in Sergipe and research in the UFS collection about FASC.
