Abstract

The objective of this article is to explore the intersection between Public History and Audiovisual History through the miniseries Passport to Freedom, highlighting the figure of Aracy Guimarães Rosa and her historical significance in both the Brazilian and global contexts. Recognized for her strength and courage in the face of the Nazi regime, and decisive in the protection of Jews, her story brings collective memory to a major historical event. The miniseries serves as a tool of Public History by presenting a relevant historical narrative to the general public. In the audiovisual field, it becomes a bridge between past and present, encouraging critical reflection on historical events. Furthermore, by being broadcast on widely accessible platforms, it strengthens the connection between academic knowledge and the non-specialized public.
