Relações entre a linguística e a ciência da informação: um estudo exploratório nos fundos pessoais do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico de Sergipe (IHGSE)

Abstract

This article is the result of the first investigations of the Master's dissertation in Information Science at the Federal University of Sergipe, with the title “Catalog of metalinguistic sources: an exploratory study in the personal funds of the Historical and Geographic Institute of Sergipe (IHGSE)”. The objective of this work is to investigate how the IHGSE personal archives can provide information, of a metalinguistic nature for researchers, with the contributions of the informational organization of Information Science. To this end, an attempt is made to understand the importance of historiographical research and the use of information sources, to verify how the use of personal files can contribute to linguistic research and, finally, to analyze how the IHGSE meets the researcher's informational need, through their catalogs. Through a literature review by authors such as Cavaliere (2013), Swiggers (2019), Schellenberg (2006) and Belloto (2006), the cataloging of the 12 catalogs of IHGSE personal funds is analyzed, mainly in the context of Linguistics. It is noticeable that there are deficiencies in the description according to archival standards, as well as the absence of metalinguistic elements in the data represented in the IHGSE personal funds. The absence of a selective catalog can be justified by the high volume of documents, as well as the organizational activities developed in each management. Thus, the final product of the master's thesis is to create a selective catalog with metalinguistic information, according to archival principles.
