Itinerários de alunas do interior para a capital: entre o Grupo Escolar Padre Dantas, o Ginásio Maroinense e o Atheneu Sergipense (1956-1972)

Abstract

This dissertation focuses on students from the Padre Dantas School Group, in the city of Maruim/SE, who continued their studies at the Maroinense Gymnasium and at the Atheneu Sergipense, an institution where they completed their scientific education. The general objective is to investigate the school pathways of a group of students between primary and secondary education. As the main object of this study is the journey of a group of students, the initial time frame was established as 1956, the year when student Maria Inácia began her studies at GEPD, and the final mark was set for 1972, the last year to be analyzed, due to the exit and completion of the scientific course by the student from Atheneu Sergipense, Neilde Lemos. The search for sources took place in private collections, at the Public Archive of the State of Sergipe - APES, at the Epiphânio Dórea Public Library - BPED, at the Education and Memory Center of the Atheneu Sergipense - CEMAS, at the general archive of the Department of School Inspection of the Secretary of State for Education of Sergipe - SEED, and at the general archive of the Atheneu Sergipense. In the context of the theoretical methodological framework, the perspective of 'cultural capital' by Pierre Bourdieu was discussed, in dialogue with the studies on 'transfuga' by Norberto Dallabrida; of school material culture by Agustín Benito Escolano, along with works that deal with memory, with Ecléa Bosi. The study highlights the journeys of four students, all of whom were interviewed. By intertwining oral sources with located sources such as, for example, photographs of students, legislation, official documents from schools and students, among others, we were able to analyze the stories of three educational institutions in the state of Sergipe, based on four students from families with limited financial resources, who, through the mobilization of a series of actions and individuals, managed to complete primary and secondary school education in a municipality in the interior of the state and pursue the second stage of secondary education in the capital of Sergipe.
