Prevenção em saúde bucal: conhecimento e comportamentos de risco entre adolescentes de escola pública em Aracaju/SE

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the degree of knowledge and risk behaviors among adolescents on topics related to prevention and maintaining oral health. Were performed lectures and questionnaires with 282 adolescents from a public school in Aracaju, Sergipe. Regarding knowledge about oral health was observed that most teens have good perception of clinical conditions that characterize a healthy mouth (p <0.05), and performs the basic actions of oral hygiene (p=0.2197). Many reported are satisfied with the appearance of your smile (p=0.1005) and often seek the dentist (p=0.1317). It was found that oral cancer is a disease little known by adolescents (p<0,05) and many cited the school as the main source of knowledge acquisition (p<0,05). It was concluded that adolescents had good prior knowledge about most of the topics covered in the lectures, indicating the relevance of school and prevention workshops in the formation of conscience and healthy habits in adolescents.
