Avaliação do status de zona livre da peste suína clássica (PSC) no estado de Sergipe

Abstract

This Supervised Internship Report (ESO) and Undergraduate Thesis (TCC) is submitted as a partial requirement for the conferral of the Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Sergipe – Sertão Campus. The document presents the activities carried out by the student Gileno Francisco da Hora Júnior, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Glenda Lídice Cortez Marinho Silva of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Sertão. The report encompasses the hands-on experiences acquired in the areas of Animal Health Surveillance, Animal Management, and Animal Welfare. The internship activities were conducted in two regionally significant institutions: the Agricultural Development Company of Sergipe (EMDAGRO), located in the municipality of Itabaiana, SE, and Fazenda Encanto, located in Nossa Senhora da Glória, SE. The ESO took place between May 13 and October 3, 2025, during which a wide range of activities was performed, including sanitary inspections, implementation of practices that promote animal welfare, milking, artificial insemination, administration of medications, vaccinations, and herd and calf management, among other routine tasks, totaling 742 hours of supervised practice. Based on the experience acquired throughout the internship, the Undergraduate Thesis (TCC) developed by the student is entitled “Assessment of the Classical Swine Fever (CSF) Free Zone Status in the State of Sergipe (2023 - 2024)” The theme was selected according to the student’s academic interests and directly reflects the activities undertaken during the supervised internship.
