Questão social e a saúde mental : a relação das expressões da questão social no âmbito da saúde mental

Abstract

The social transformations that occurred with the intensification of the capitalist system and its mode of production have triggered an increase in social inequalities, directly impacting the area of mental health, which is intrinsically related to the social conditions of individuals. In this scenario, the Social Work professional is required to intervene in the multiple forms of expression of the Social Question that manifest themselves in mental health services. Therefore, this work aims to discuss the relationship between the expressions of the Social Question within the scope of mental health, with the following specific objectives: to understand the Social Question and its articulation with mental health; to reflect on these expressions present in the daily routine of mental health services; to discuss the challenges and limitations faced by social workers in this workspace; and to point out the possibilities for professional intervention, highlighting the relevance of the social worker's professional practice. To this end, the methodology used is bibliographic in nature, with an exploratory character and a qualitative approach, based on the method of historical dialectical materialism, from the analysis of scientific and normative productions that discuss the social question and mental health. Thus, the work synthesizes that mental suffering is an expression of the Social Question, intensified by social inequalities arising from the relationship between capital and labor, requiring intersectoral responses, reaffirming the relevance of the social worker's role in promoting comprehensive care in the field of mental health.
