O papel das empresas militares e de segurança privada na estratégia nacional de segurança da Federação Russa

Abstract

This project aims to analyze the historical background of the relationship between the Russian State and “mercenarism” throughout history. Thus, dealing with the entire evolution of this relationship, from the period of Imperial Russia until the moment when these groups were organized into civil entities and started to form Private Military and Security Companies. Still, it will be analyzed how and when these companies became among the main service providers for the State, cultivating very close relationships with people from the Moscow political establishment. Finally, the focus of the work is to investigate and analyze how these companies began to influence, whether directly or indirectly, the national security strategy of the Russian Federation and what mechanisms were used by these companies in exercising this influence until the moment when they acquire an almost leading role within this grand strategy.
