| Resumo : | Em A sombra do Patriarca, Alina Paim ressalta o poder do patriarcado e a opressão da mulher no Nordeste, na década de 30. Trata-se de um romance instigante, que apresenta personagens femininas com características distintas, porém com uma coisa em comum: todas vivem à sombra de um patriarca, Ramiro, homem de posses, que humilha seja lá quem for para ter sempre mais. Neste trabalho, busca-se refletir sobre o papel da mulher na sociedade brasileira da primeira metade do século XX, estabelecendo-se relações entre a obra e a realidade que lhe serve de referente histórico. Além disso, é apresentado um panorama da vida de Alina Paim, escritora, infelizmente, ainda ignorada no campo da literatura brasileira. Mulher, mãe, escritora e militante partidária, Alina Paim, em sua obra, enfoca a luta da mulher em busca de autoafirmação em um contexto social precário e adverso, trazendo à tona as contradições que marcam a sociedade brasileira na época representada. |
| Abstract: | In The Shadow of the Patriarch, Alina Paim emphasizes the power of patriarchy and the oppression of women in the Northeast in the 1930s. This is a provocative novel that features female characters with distinct characteristics but with one thing in common: all Live in the shadow of a patriarch, Ramiro, a man of possessions, who humiliates anyone to always have more. In this work, we seek to reflect on the role of women in Brazilian society in the first half of the twentieth century, establishing relationships between the work and the reality that serves as historical reference.
