Perfil epidemiológico do tipo de parto e a influência da fisioterapia nas maternidades de Sergipe

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Vaginal delivery is the physiological process inherent to human reproduction, with many positive effects. The influence of Physiotherapy in obstetric care, as part of the team's routine, together with the participation of the pregnant woman in the process, through the active use of her own body, has been a great facilitator in the process of labor, contributing to the team and bringing satisfaction with the birth experience. The objective of this study focused on analyzing the physiotherapeutic performance in maternity hospitals in the state of Sergipe, observing the epidemiological profile of the type of delivery and the influence of physiotherapy in this context. METHOD: This is an observational cross-sectional epidemiological study carried out in two stages. In the first one, information about maternity hospitals and numbers referring to types of delivery were collected through the DATASUS website. The second stage consisted of collecting data from the Inspection Department and the Technical Chamber of Women's Health of the Regional Council of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy of the 17th Region (CREFITO-17) on the number of technicians responsible for Physiotherapy in maternity hospitals in Sergipe, as well as the collection of data regarding the service offered. RESULTS: 23 maternity hospitals were registered in Sergipe, 3 of which are in the private sector, 4 are considered as mixed operations, that is, in the public sphere by the SUS and private and the rest with exclusive care by the SUS, divided into low, moderate and high risk profiles. When analyzing the number of vaginal and cesarean deliveries, it is observed that the first stands out in large numbers, that is, vaginal delivery has a prevalence > 60% in mixed maternity hospitals and > 24% in those with care only by the SUS, with the exception of private maternity hospitals that have a higher prevalence of cesarean sections (> 24%) compared to 2.7% related to vaginal deliveries in this maternity profile. Also, when analyzing the responses obtained from the survey with CREFITO-17, it is pointed out that only 4 of all maternity hospitals surveyed have a physical therapist in the obstetric team. In addition, it is noteworthy that of the maternity hospitals included in this study, 7 of them have a number greater than 1000 deliveries per year, 4 of which already have a physical therapist in the team. CONCLUSION: It is concluded that due to the prevalence of vaginal deliveries in Sergipe, there is a need to insert a physical therapist in the multidisciplinary team, in order to help the mother through her knowledge and provide her with a better experience of that moment, childbirth.
