Do silenciamento ao reconhecimento : estratégias de enfrentamento à violência contra as mulheres na Universidade Federal de Sergipe

Abstract

To this end, qualitative, bibliographical research was carried out, using the following n this work we address violence against women that is present throughout the social structure, causing serious harm both to women in situations of violence and to the people around them. More recently, research and reports have revealed that violence against women also occurs in universities and, in them, women are frequent targets; Furthermore, some Brazilian universities are already beginning to implement intervention and prevention measures against violence against women. Given the lack of academic studies focused on violence against women at UFS, this research aims to analyze individual and collective strategies for protecting and confronting violence against women at the Federal University categories: violence against women; patriarchy; the overlapping of the patriarchal-racist-capitalist system; male chauvinism; sexual and racial division of labor and violence in the academic space provide a theoretical basis for this study. For documentary research, legislation, laws, decrees and ordinances on public affirmative action policies were used, as well as the official website of the Federal University of Sergipe, the institution's Development Plan and the affirmative actions that exist in the institution to carry out document analysis. A mapping of student organizations that operate at UFS was also carried out, through the application of an online questionnaire, as well as an analysis of the websites/social networks of these groups. In the end, we come to the realization that the strategies adopted at the Federal University of Sergipe are insufficient to guarantee the permanence of women. As results, we initially point out that in the institution there are no affirmative actions regarding access and especially specific permanence for women. With regard to student organizations, it was noticeable that student organizations have adopted some strategies to combat violence against women in higher education. Therefore, we also conclude the need to create a public policy that deals with the prevention and protection of violence against women in higher education, and we see the possibility of affirmative actions being used as a strategy to combat violence against women in the academic space.
