Comportamento leitor dos acadêmicos do curso de Biblioteconomia da Universidade Federal de Sergipe

Abstract

Considering how essential reading in academic training, and consequently in their professional qualification, the purpose of this work was to investigate the reader behavior of students on the course of Librarianship and Documentation of the Federal University of Sergipe. Course created by resolution 37/2008 of CONEP (Council for Teaching, Research and University Extension) in line with the REUNI. The overall objective of this work was to investigate the reader behavior of students on the course of Librarianship and Documentation in an attempt to understand its relationship with reading, taking into account that the future professional will be a mediator between the information and the user. The specific objectives were: to investigate the reading practices of students on the course, identify the criteria for the choices of their texts and know the time and space for reading. In this way, was discussed in this work, the relationship of academic course with reading, the ways in which the choice of texts influence in their training, and the meaning of reading for academics, diagnosing training needs in the context of this public reading. The theme is relevant both in the academic and in the social context, given that reading contributes to the formation of critical citizens and the librarian is the skilled professional to enrich this training.
