“Eu lavo, costuro, varro e cozinho” : as pedagogias machistas no filme branca de neve e os sete anões

Abstract

This monograph presents problematizations about female performances in Disney's adaptations of fairy tales, especially in the film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). We reflect on how cultural pedagogies and addressing modes educate children about gender. We constructed the following research problem: how are women represented in the film Snow White the Seven Dwarfs? We still ask: why did Snow White and her stepmother have this relationship with beauty? In this sense, we aim to analyze 10 scenes from the film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) and their female representations, observing the role assigned to women and their conflicts in the plot. To fulfill the stipulated objective, we used the Methods of Addressing and concluded that, in this adaptation, women are classified in a sexist perspective due to their characteristics and behaviors, guided by western beauty standards defined by patriarchy, in which submission, passivity, domestic gifts and naivety label the image of the ideal woman. In this way, we consider the debates in schools about gender roles and representations in the form of fantasy and make-believe in Disney princess films indispensable.
