Enlaces e atravessamentos em Torto Arado: literatura, direito e poder

Abstract

This scientific article's main objective is to analyze the work "Torto Arado" by Itamar Vieira Júnior in the light of the context influenced by neoliberalism, in which market goals prevail. Simultaneously, it seeks to understand the role of Law in social regulation and the increasing diminishing of the importance of the literary experience in contemporary society. The research investigates the feasibility of identifying, through literature, the influence of neoliberalism in narratives, especially in power struggles and vulnerable symbolic territories, with the intention of highlighting the critical capacity of literature to give voice to those silenced by neoliberalism, often backed by the legal system. To achieve this purpose, the research adopts a broad approach. Initially, it contextualizes the current environment, characterized by the predominance of neoliberal thinking, emphasizing the importance of literature as a conducive space for the convergence of diverse perspectives. Then, it conducts a structural analysis of the work through a descriptive approach, allowing for the exploration of the stories, conflicts, and narratives present in the work. Finally, by identifying the conflicts in the plot, the analysis examines how the power relationship, characterized by verticality among the characters, influences the interaction of individuals with the world around them.
