A exaltação da natureza enlaçada a identidade sergipana : François Hoald e seu legado artístico

Abstract

This monograph is the result of research into the trajectory and artistic production of François Hoald (1947-1974), reconstructing his history and analyzing his works based on documents from the Public Archives of the City of Aracaju (Sergipe) and the private collection of his family, which includes artworks and documents. With this material, it was possible to organize his trajectory chronologically and analyze his productions, highlighting his main artistic, influences, techniques and themes. The study reveals that Hoald fits within tropical primitivism, with strong influences from Pernambuco regionalism. However, his work stands out by exalting the cashew fruit as symbol of Sergipe's cultural identity. By documenting his trajectory and productions, this investigation contributes to the preservation of Sergipe art and the legacy of an artist whose work reflected regional themes. Furthermore, it aims to encourage the appreciation and recognition of local artists, who play an essential role in the history of Sergipe's art.
