O cuidado em Winnicott : do desenvolvimento emocional ao setting analítico

Abstract

The research came from the question of the meaning of care in Donald W. Winnicott's work and how relevant it is in Winnicott's view. In order to answer such questions, a general overview of the term care was drawn. It was thus derived from the investigation of the term in Winnicott's work; in addition, a mapping of what has been discussed by contemporary Brazilian commentators from Winnicottians was done. In both primary and secondary sources the discussion of care comes from the theory of emotional development (early childhood care) to the analytic setting (adult care). In order to explain this process and how the individual develops emotionally, that is, how psychism is structured in Winnicott's view, the role played by care and its contribution was discussed. As for the analytical setting, the effective psychotherapeutic actions of care in different types of psychic structures in the adult were also discussed, also outlining the techniques that Winnicott considered essential for the treatment of individuals. A relationship was established between care in the early stages of development and care in the analytical setting, since the understanding of the theory of emotional development contributes to the analyst to know what types of intervention he should perform according to the psychic structuring of each patient . As a result of what was found in the research, it was corroborated the consideration that the care in Winnicott assumes the position of a "scientific conceptualization".
