Comunicação política entre Sergipe Bahia e Lisboa : o motim de 1656 em São Cristóvão

Abstract

In the following work, we propose tô talk about the political communication between the captaincy of Sergipe, Bahia and Lisbon, focusing our investigation on The riot that occurred in 1656, in the city of São Cristóvão, Sergipe. First, we did a historiographical study on the riots that occured in Colinial Brazil in the 17th century, perceiving its general characteristics. Once this is done, we take the existing manuscripsts in the Overseas History archive of Lisbon, available digitally, with the aim of understanring the cause, key playears and dimensios of the mutiny of 1656. We found that the conflict involved not only authorities ( captain mor and vicar), as well as segments of Society, in dispute with the tribute to be be paif in kind(cattle) to Bahia. From the political point of view, the mutiny sought break with the ties of submission to the govermment of Bahia, which did not materialize. From the point of aspect principles of disorder and violence committed against residents wer e found.
