Abstract

This article aims to bring reflections on women and witchcraft, looking at all the mysticism that surrounds the theme and its construction over the years. The history of the female figure as a witch was something that was constructed and shaped over the years, being implanted in the human imagination at the very end of the Middle Ages and taking the form we know today in the Modern Age. Looking through various authors brings us the various perspectives and paths that this theme can take us, always bringing us new questions and questions about how the figure of the “witch” was associated with women and why, for many years, they were persecuted and what allegations were used to convince thousands of people that certain women should be tortured, murdered and burned alive at the stake. Thus, I aim to bring some reflections around the mythical figure of the witch woman, who was persecuted for a long time by society at the time.
