Sustentabilidade socioambiental do artesanato Louça Morena de Itabaianinha/SE

Abstract

The research theme is the “Louça Morena” craftsmanship of the Poxica Village, in Itabaianinha- SE, from the perspective of the concept of socio-environmental sustainability. Produced in the southern region of the state of Sergipe, through the management of clay and native or exotic wood, the artifact faces a threat of extinction, one of the reasons being the predatory extraction of the raw material. Thus, this research has as its research object the study of an economically, socially and culturally sustainable craftsmanship. Thus, the research problem is as follows: once clay (finite mineral) and wood from native or exotic species become extinct in the region, would there be a possibility of the Louça Morena craftsmanship disappearing? The general objective is to analyze the risk of extinction of the “Louça Morena” craftsmanship of the Poxica Village. The specific objectives were: a) To understand the concept of sustainability and the socio- environmental debate focused on cultural tradition (craftsmanship); b) To relate community and crafts from a cultural perspective to the concept of representation of the population that produces “Louça Morena”; c) To discuss the importance of promoting public policies for the production of sustainable crafts and the preservation of tradition; d) To identify the probable forms of recognition of the activity/production of Louça Morena; e) To analyze the possible practices that craftswomen use to make environmental balance possible. In this case, the method used corresponds to oral history, where an exploratory, descriptive and analytical study was carried out, based on the execution of procedures and techniques such as bibliographic review and field research. The contribution of the research tends to serve as a reference tool for the promotion of public policies, especially in Sergipe, significantly adding to the advancement of environmental sciences in the state of Sergipe. Another initiative resulting from the study was the creation of a booklet that covers the artisanal production of ceramics in Itabaianinha-SE, offering a brief explanation of the importance of protection mechanisms promoted by the National Institute of Industrial Property (IPHAN) with the National Inventory of Cultural (INRC) and the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) with the Geographical Indication (IG) to safeguard the intangible culture of our country.
