O lugar do trabalho doméstico na reprodução social brasileira : uma análise a partir da Teoria da Reprodução Social e das reflexões de Lélia Gonzalez

Abstract

This research analyzed paid domestic work in Brazil, highlighting its central role in the social reproduction of the workforce, based on the dialogue between Social Reproduction Theory (SRT) and the thinking of Lélia Gonzalez. The study demonstrated that domestic work, performed mainly by black women, is fundamental to the maintenance of Brazilian capitalism, although it is systematically invisible and precarious. SRT provided the framework for understanding the dialectical relationship between production and social reproduction, and, in dialogue with Lélia Gonzalez, provided the keys to a reflection on the racial and gender specificities that structure the differential exploitation of these workers. The research showed that the naturalization of this work and the late and exclusionary legislation are functional to the capitalist mode of production, which depends on the low cost of social reproduction to maximize accumulation. It is concluded that overcoming this reality requires not only the expansion of labor rights, but also the socialization of reproductive work and the transformation of the structural bases that perpetuate exploitation and social oppression.
